JOB OVERVIEW: Prepare and distribute financial and budget reporting. Ensure compliance with US GAAP and IFRS reporting guidelines. Develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and associated financial reporting;
  • Integrate tools and technologies to create efficiencies and enhance reporting and analysis capabilities;
  • Prepare tax returns and related filings for sales and use tax;
  • Research and maintain current tax rates;
  • Track, reconcile and report on various marketing programs;
  • Spearhead the preparation of annual budgets;
  • Work with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit;
  • Research accounting rules and regulations and make recommendations regarding company policies;
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned or determined by management and move with a sense of urgency;
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures as established in the Staff Member Handbook.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to interact professionally with other departments and outside contacts
  • Complete heavy workload and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to compile, analyze, and utilize complicated and integrated spreadsheets
  • Ability to prioritize projects, meet deadlines and execute on commitments
  • Effective organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Great Plains Dynamics software experience preferred
  • Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word and PowerPoint software applications
  • Ability to work flexible schedule

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Administration
  • Five years’ experience preferred in Restaurant/Hospitality Accounting/Finance including preparation of financial statements, budgets, forecasting, and operational analysis
  • Multi-unit experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, interpret complex data, and understand detailed instructions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to analyze and resolve problems with minimal information that often have multiple concrete variables in standardized and/or non-routine situations. Ability to use data to infer and identify problems and make recommendations to correct.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, crouch and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
MATHMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Basic input, output, error correction, general ledger account structure knowledge essential to be able to perform the job. Ability to operate a personal computer to perform routine accounting tasks such as account reconciliation, balance inquiries and record updates. Proven experience working with spreadsheet and data with an intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel. The ability to use data and information to make effective decisions.
