DESCRIPTION

CARD is seeking qualified Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to implement home-based speech and language treatment programs. CARD Speech Language Pathologists Assistants are an integral part of the therapy team as their work directly influences client success. SLPAs report to CARD Speech Language Pathologists and are responsible for each client’s case and will have a dedicated mentor who will conduct quarterly coaching sessions. CARD provides extensive initial and on-going training and support to the SLPAs. This position is non-exempt and can be either full or part time.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Implement and represent CARD policy enthusiastically

· Implement therapeutic programs and treatment within the instruction and guidelines established by the supervising SLP. Assist individual students and small groups of students through instructional activities designed to remediate the identified communication disability(ies).

Examples of this include:

o a. Provide drill and practice activities

o b. Monitoring of student progress

o c. Guide and assist in-classroom models of intervention

· Participate in team planning to meet the communication/education needs of students

· Prepare, maintain, assemble, and return instructional materials and operate instructional media for identified students

· Work collaboratively with the certificated staff to identify, prepare and operate instructional media for identified students.

· Collect and organize data and information for identified students.

· Collaborate' in designing schedules, charts, and rosters for students being served.

· Records grades, progress notes, and information for students being served.

· Maintain files consistent with the standards set by Speech Language Pathologist.

· Prepare, distribute, and collect forms needed by certificated staff for identified students.

· Attend Individual Education Plan (I.E.P.) meetings and other pertinent meetings for identified students as determined by supervising SLP.

· Participate in professional growth opportunities as agreed upon among the Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, the Speech Language Pathologist and the Director of Special Programs.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Represent CARD professionally and ethically to internal and external stakeholders

· Provide education to parents in techniques for more effective communication as related to their needs

· Provide top-quality one on one therapy in home and clinic settings

· Set and meet performance goals for case quality, clinic quality and billable time

· Attend introductory and on-going training

· Maintain accurate and timely records including timesheets and reports

· Report to clinical supervisor on client progress and provide treatment recommendations

· Participate in regular staff meetings

· Minimize cancellations of scheduled shifts

· Maintain minimum billable requirement

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

· B.A. Degree in Speech Pathology, or Associate degree with SLPA certification that are valid in the state for which this position will be held

· 2 – 5 years relevant work experience

· Experience/interest in working with children

· Experience/interest in using a multidisciplinary treatment approach

· Availability of 20 – 40 hours per week

· Reliable means of transportation with proof of auto insurance

· Basic computer skills
