Job description

• Responsible for accurate processing of patient specimens and data entry into Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Must follow all written Standard Operating Procedures in departments (SOPs).
• Label specimens and transport to the correct department section to be tested.
• Performs clerical duties necessary to process specimens.
• Responsible for all documentation required for the tasks performed.
• Ensures proper and complete patient identification on requisitions and specimen labels.
• Properly handles refrigerated and frozen specimens.
• Carefully handling Covid Swabs during processing
• Prepares specimens for delivery.
• Aliquots specimens, ensuring proper labeling.
• Properly operates centrifuges.
• Prepare specimens for send outs
• Complete required training courses such as Safety and HIPAA in a timely manner.
• Performs accessioning review on a designated basis.
