SPECIFICATION CONSULTANT APPRENTICE PROGRAM

This position requires relocation to the Kansas City market area for a 12-18-month training period.

What you will be doing to prepare for your future role

You will relocate to our training facility located in the Kansas City metro area where you'll participate in an in-depth preparatory and development training program with a small group of classmates. We'll teach you about our industry, the innovative products and solutions we manufacture, the standards and codes used to protect lives in the working environment, and how to master our cutting edge software to design openings. We'll prepare you for a successful transition to a valued Specification Consultant role working within our nationwide ASSA ABLOY Opening Solutions team.

The apprentice program consists of 12 months of focused classroom training and 6 months of supervised and mentored entry level specification writing with continuing education.

What you will being doing in your full time role

Specification Consultants have an integral role working with a committed team of specialists who are focused on supporting many of the top architectural firms in the country. You will be responsible for preparing technical door and hardware specification documents and acting as a trusted and knowledgeable resource to design professionals on innovative, functional, and code compliant door opening applications. You will have the power of Openings Studio to enhance your workflow productivity and project management skills.

Key areas you will contribute in this role include:

• Creating, engineering, and producing door and hardware specifications for all types of commercial building applications - schools, hospitals, offices, multifamily housing, entertainment, hospitality, and more.
• Recommending door and hardware solutions to meet the design requirements for security, aesthetics, sustainability, and accessibility.
• Designing electrified access control product and software systems for door openings.
• Working in tandem with our Architectural Consultants to foster a positive customer experience and deliver on time project deliverables.
• Assisting with project submittal reviews and substitution approval processes to ensure specifications are held in the bid process.
• Utilizing Salesforce.com as a customer relationship, project tracking and time management tool

What we are looking for

• You are a self-motivated, organized individual who takes pride in attention to details and accuracy in their work. You're a multi-tasker who can manage time and projects proficiently. You're a strong communicator, active listener, and value being a recognized member of a team. Your background includes a College/University degree (preference for specialization in related curricula such as: architectural design/engineering/drafting, construction science/management, business, or similar). Proficiency with MS Office tools is required. Technical and electronic aptitude is a plus. You are able to perform responsibilities in a home office environment.
