Special Ed Teacher wanted for a Preschool classroom located in Media, Pa. Mon - Fri. 8am-4pm

Responsibilities


PUPIL SERVICES

  • Develop and implement monthly, weekly and daily lesson plans for the class that are consistent with the approved curriculum and childrens IEPs.
  • Maintain all record keeping for the classroom, inclusive of attendance, data collection for IEP goals, student progress notes, evaluation reports and other records as may be requested.
  • Function as the leader of the multi-disciplinary team in the planning and provision of IEP related services for the students. Hold weekly team meetings.
  • Evaluate students as required, including Work Sampling System for entry, exit and prepare written reports and program plans in collaboration with other team members.
  • Prepare for and participate in ER and IEP family and team meetings.
  • Implement positive behavior support strategies to address challenging behaviors.
  • Maintain developmentally appropriate supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure that the physical classroom set up is developmentally appropriate and conducive to student learning and growth.

SUPERVISION

  • Provide direct supervision of Teaching Assistants.
  • Supervise assigned classroom volunteers.
  • Provide supervision and coaching of student teachers when assigned.

GENERAL

  • Plan and work with Division Director and Division Program Director in developing new and innovative program changes.
  • Keep up-to-date concerning education trends and use new techniques as appropriate for the early childhood and special education population.
  • Maintain required certification as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Division Director or Division Program Director.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Special Education
  • Currently hold or be eligible for a Pennsylvania Teacher Certification for Mentally and/or Physically Handicapped.
  • Minimum of two years of previous teaching experience and/or working with young children with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

Essential functions

Ability to communicate effectively.

Ability to balance several projects simultaneously.

Ability to work during periods of high stress and demanding deadlines.

Must be able to lift 40-60 pounds. Requires bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting.
