Job Summary:
The Special Credits Officer is responsible for the management of troubled borrower relationships and/or adversely graded loans within the Bank’s loan portfolio of diverse size and complexity in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations and Bank lending policies, standards, and procedures.

KEY FUNCTIONS:
  • Manage troubled borrower relationships and/or adversely graded loans, including the collection of delinquent loans, recommendations for loan modifications and forbearance plans, monitoring loans for performance, informing management of relationship performance and status, foreclosure and bankruptcy process, and disposition of acquired collateral to maximize recovery;
  • Mitigate loan losses on loans through modification or forbearance plans, foreclosure, receiverships, deeds in lieu of foreclosure, short sales, disposition of collateral or legal action to recover monies due;
  • Monitor collateral conditions through inspections as needed;
  • Notify management of delinquency/collection matters or Bank operating situations, which could adversely affect the Bank;
  • Ensure that consumer and business protection laws and regulations are followed;
  • Communicate directly with borrowers, Bank employees and others in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Work closely with attorneys, and manage their actions, in foreclosure, litigation, and other legal and collection activity;
  • Follows the Bank’s Information Security policies, ensuring that the processing and handling of client and confidential bank information is done in a secure manner and environment;
  • Completes any other job related duties as assigned by manager or supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills/Training:
  • Familiar with loan documentation, closing documentation, title reports, appraisals and supporting underwriting criteria.
  • Knowledge and experience with bankruptcy and foreclosure laws and processes.
  • Experience in managing and disposing of business, income property, residential, and consumer repossessed assets of all types.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills and be able to work independently and as a team with little supervision.
  • Strong working knowledge and competency in analyzing financial statements and cash flow.
  • Demonstrated professional business communication and people skills, plus the ability to work successfully with all layers of an organization.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to make decisions, work independently, and handle multiple priorities.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office and data management.
Experience:

Minimum five years experience in collecting business, income property, residential, and consumer loans.
