Position Summary:
Advancia Technologies, LLC is seeking a qualified Spark Cell / Database Programmer Technical Support who will perform the following:
  • In addition to the Common Tasks listed the Spark Cell Tech Support function you will be responsible for assisting the Spark Cell Chief(s) in ensuring the continued functionality of the 80 FTW Mixed Reality (MR) Innovation Labs & other Immersive Training Devices (ITDs), hereafter referred to as the “Spark Cell.”

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Act as physical and IT Security Manager to ensure adherence to all applicable AFI’s for physical site security, end-of-day inventory, securing workplace entry/exits, as well as individual device storage lockers where applicable.
  • Establish a Spark Cell “IT Help Desk” type service with the primary place of performance at Sheppard AFB with the ability to provide onsite and/or remote IT support services to other 19AF flying training bases (i.e. Columbus AFB, MS, Laughlin AFB, TX, Randolph AFB, TX and Vance AFB, OK).
  • Travel will be conducted IAW Joint Travel Regulations Vol. II, Appendix E, Part III. Travel using the lowest cost mode of transportation commensurate with the mission requirements.
  • Utilize commercially available and government-furnished database analytic software to determine responses to search requests given by Spark Cell POC and 80 FTW leadership.
  • Work with the requestor to understand and interpret the search request.
  • Update, refine, and focus search algorithms and techniques to analyze existing historical databases, such as, but not limited to databases of past student flight and academic performance.
  • Be able to obtain access to the TIMs database, and other records systems as determined by the Spark Cell POC.
  • Responsible for maintaining accountability of Spark Cell equipment by maintaining an inventory of all items. Create, record, track and issue hand receipts for all Spark Cell(s) items received and issued IAW local procedures. Create, record, and track facility work orders as required on the appropriate form IAW local procedures.
  • Conduct daily management of mixed reality (MR) devices. This includes hardware and software startup and shutdown as well as password, user control, inventory, and configuration management.
  • If required, you should interface with the 80 FTW Small Computer Shop, the 82 Communications Squadron, and MR device Technical Representatives to ensure functionality and/or troubleshoot problems, network access devices, and develop new capabilities.
  • Shall assist Spark Cell users (normally students and instructor pilots) with setup, troubleshooting, and instruction on “how to” utilize devices. These hardware and software devices/applications include but are to include iPad Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs – iPad), Foreflight, CloudAhoy, IBM MaaS360, BOX Mobile Content Manager, X-Plane, and Prepared 3D
  • Work with Squadron Schedulers, Mission Support Scheduling, Ops Group Scheduling (OGS), Operations Support Training flight (OST) individual users, and others to schedule MR devices to create daily, weekly, and monthly schedules as required, including the synchronization of available manpower (casual students, Break-in-Training (BIT) students) for shop manning and tasking in accordance with Spark Cell POC direction.
  • Act as the network manager for all Spark Cell devices, computer systems, and equipment. Ensure network connectivity for all devices. Troubleshoot problems and work with 80 FTW Small Computer Shop, the 82 Communications Squadron, Technical Representatives, and/or other entities as required to setup, maintain and restore equipment to the network.
  • Track and report device and network bugs and errors as required to Spark Cell officers, HHQs, and/or tech companies.

Common Task Duties:
  • Work with Military lead
  • Develop, write and conduct lesson plans in accordance with Military leads directives
  • Attend training when requested/required
  • Work with all ranks of military leaders in accordance with military rules and regulations.
  • Conduct yourself with a military bearing and give military leaders their due respect.
  • Work in a professional manner with Advanced Technologies PM, team leaders and team members.
  • Report to work on time.
  • Follow your chain of command.
  • Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, phone systems and use computers for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, electronic mail and other applications.
  • Proficiently prepare reports, memos, letters, forms, briefings, emails and other documents using Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software. The contractor shall make changes to Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Adobe PDFs, and PowerPoint presentations to enhance their effectiveness or to repair/correct minor errors.
  • Utilize the Government-provided system(s) of record, referred to as Management Systems (MS) for the remainder of this document. The current MS used within the 80 FTW is Training Integrated Management System (TIMS). The contractor will use a new MS if the Government adds an MS or changes the current MS to a comparable weapons system such as Training Management System (TMS), GTIMS, Patriot Excalibur (PEX), or equivalent
  • Possess knowledge of organizational and functional responsibilities, as well as the organizational relationships of their assigned unit.
  • Greet visitors, answer phones and provide information to callers and take messages or forward calls to appropriate individuals. However, this task will need to be performed infrequently and is expected to require only a small portion of the contractor’s time.
  • Provide customer service as needed and respond to information requests directed to their office.
  • Establish and maintain paper and electronic filing systems for records, correspondence and other materials IAW USAF Records Management standards as defined in AFMAN 33-363 (Chap 1-7), Air Force Instruction (AFI) 33-322 (Chap 1-7), AFI 33-332 associated AETC/Sheppard AFB supplements, and locally developed guidance.
  • Review work section products; check for correct grammar and spelling, and ensure compliance with group, wing, and higher headquarters policies and instructions.
  • Compose, type, and distribute notes, post-Pilot Read Files (PRFs) and Flight Crew Information Files (FCIFs), routine correspondence and reports in the format established by their assigned organization.
  • Prepare official documents in formats specified by the Air Force Handbook 33-337, The Tongue and Quill, group, wing, and higher headquarters policies and instructions.
  • Create and maintain continuity folders containing job responsibilities, procedures, points of contact, templates, forms, and associated task documentation.
  • Accomplish any training necessary to execute tasks listed in task requirements according to this PWS.
  • Perform in-processing and out-processing functions of personnel for their assigned support function IAW local guidance.
  • Provide inputs to Management Internal Control Toolset (MICT) database or equivalent IAW local procedures. The contractor shall complete MICT communicators applicable to programs they are assigned, identify deficiencies, create and administer Corrective Action Plans using fact-finding and problem analysis, and track to resolution.

Education & Experience Requirements:
EDUCATION:
  • High School graduate

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with networked high-performance virtual or mixed reality gaming and/or simulation software and hardware (A Plus & Network Plus experience (desired))
  • Ability to operate the following systems/programs:
    • SharePoint websites and communities of practice
    • Computer-based training scheduling and integrated management system (TIMS)
  • Familiarity with online learning management systems and content development; familiarity with video editing programs and tools (Adobe Acrobat Pro, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Media Encoder, and/or other commercial systems)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of database management practices
  • Knowledge of analytics tools and processes
  • Ability to interpret user-reported errors in simulation systems and correct those errors or direct them to appropriate entities
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling/prototype development

Other Requirements:
  • Prior military experience must not have a Dishonorable Discharge or an Under Other Than Honorable Conditions (UOTHC) discharge on their record.

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands:
  • Some walking and standing are required.
  • You may have to lift and carry equipment (i.e. books, tools) weighing approximately 10-15 pounds.
  • Most of the work is performed indoors.
  • Work in the occupation involves making repetitive motions more than 1/3 of the time.
  • Requires standing periodically.
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, kneel and bend.
