Sous Chef
Upscale French Restaurant Group is looking to hire a professional and experienced Sous Chef immediately.
Location:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Makes the staff schedule and approves time off for hourly employees
- Opens or closes the kitchen daily
- Helps with prep, and oversees the line and the pass during service
- Helps Chef de Cuisine develop new menu items, daily specials, and seasonal specials while adhering to the quality control and standards set by the Executive Chef
- Maintains cleaning and maintenance schedule for the kitchen, and schedules emergency maintenance and repairs when necessary
- Ensures compliance with Department of Health standards
- Works with Chef de Cuisine to execute inventory and ordering
- Maintain labor and food costs while optimizing output to meet company standards
Skills and Qualifications:
- 3+ years of kitchen manager or Sous Chef experience in a similar concept
- 1+ years of multi-unit leadership experience (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of restaurant industry operations, safety, and sanitation standards
- Strong communication skills with ability to motivate employees and obtain positive results
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, results-oriented, and customer-focused
- The ability to work with a high degree of independence
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel between assigned restaurants
- ServSafe Certification (preferred or possibility to do onsite)
- Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PP)
