Position Summary

Safe Families Oklahoma (SFO), a project managed by Its My Community Initiative, is a mission-driven, innovative strategy for offering temporary living solutions for children. We focus on minimizing the risk for abuse or neglect, while giving vulnerable parents the time they need to help their families thrive, through the engagement of churches and a volunteer network of host families, coaches, and family friends.

This position matches an experienced Social Worker with a heart for connecting vulnerable children and families with healthy support systems through community and church partnerships and initiatives. This person is a catalyst in empowering volunteers to discover and use their gifts to make a difference while strengthening vulnerable families. The Safe Families Social Work Supervisor provides leadership and direction on the intake and hosting arrangement processes for Safe Families. The primary goals of the Supervisor is to mentor the staff and support teams of volunteers who carry out the mission of Safe Families Oklahoma, to ensure that children are safe and volunteer teams are supported as they come alongside families in crisis.

Essential Job Functions
  • Consult and work in the field as a Social Work subject matter expert with Hosting Coordinator and referral partners on all hosting arrangements, family needs, assessments, and referrals.
  • Continually champion the mission, impact and reach of Safe Families Oklahoma (SFO)
  • Provide coaching and support to Hosting and area coordinators through the intake and screening/hosting match process.
  • Provide supportive counsel to staff, volunteers and participant families in response to the psychosocial impact of coping with but not limited to unemployment, houselessness, psychical and/or mental illness, intimate partner violence, grief and trauma
  • Provide crisis intervention through rapid assessment and develop crisis intervention plans
  • Oversee the proper input and updating of all intake and hosting documentation into the Safe Families National Database, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and proper procedures are followed, including random quality checks and support.
  • Input, tracking and evaluation of all Safe Families program measures including, referrals, hostings, Safe Days, parent self-assessments, and volunteer debriefs.
  • Continually assess internal and external processes, identify ways to streamline and improve processes as approved by SFO leadership team.
  • Develop, refine, and collaborate on initial and ongoing trainings, based on identified needs for Safe Families volunteers.
  • Plan and coordinate Family Coach and Ministry Lead volunteer training opportunities throughout the year; Quarterly
  • CQI of program referrals, partnerships, and hosting outcomes
  • Support the Program Director/Program Manager in ongoing development of the Safe Families program including assisting with fundraising efforts, record keeping, reporting and church and community engagement.
  • Support Program Director/ Program Manager in cultivating partnerships with OKDHS, nonprofit organizations, schools, hospitals, and other agencies or service providers that fit with the scope of Safe Families Oklahoma.
  • Contribute to SFO social media and webpage
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • Masters degree in Social Work, required.

Experience

  • Experience working in social services, child welfare or human services field, minimum 5 years, preferred
  • Experience working with database/management information systems, preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity with faith-based programs/services, to include outreach, intake, and case management, preferred.
  • Experience regarding customer service/volunteer management, preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and lead others

Essential Physical Requirements

Sufficient mobility and strength to move about the facility. Ability to be mobile throughout the community.
