WordJack Media (www.wordjack.com) is a web marketing agency providing a complete digital marketing service to local business throughout the U.S. and Canada. We are looking for an experienced and creative social media writer and graphic designer to join our team!

Job Type: Part time (about 20 hours/week), 3-month contract (with objective to extend)

Location: You would work 100% from home.

Applicants must currently live in the U.S. or Canada. We have staff in both countries, so pay rate, payroll arrangements, and currency can be adapted to your location.

Salary: You will be paid a fixed monthly amount, starting at approximately $1,700 USD per month. Payments are sent twice a month, on the 10th and 25th. Paid public holidays. Paid sick leave & vacation days apply (after 3-month trial period).

We’re looking for a real “triple threat”, with skills in idea creation, copywriting, and design!

DESIGN - You’ll need to use your design skills to design/edit images for a series of Facebook/Instagram posts where the messages have already been defined.

COPY - Other times, you may be provided with images and need to write some engaging content and hashtags.

CREATIVE - Sometimes you’ll just be given an industry or topic and will need to come up with some creative ideas for social media post material, and then bring it alive with design and copy.

Do you have experience in preparing content for varied brands across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIN? Are you strong in idea creation, design, and copywriting? If this sounds like you, keep reading!

Your day-to-day will involve:

  • Designing images to accompany social posts (to Instagram for example) that meet the client’s brand and are visually appealing
  • Working on multiple clients (in varied industries) and switching between them throughout the day
  • Hashtag research to ensure posts are accompanied with the most relevant captions & tags
  • Coming up with ideas for social post content that is appropriate to the client’s brand and social media goals, sometimes with very little direction to begin with.
  • Writing post captions using correct grammar and spelling and an appropriate tone of voice for the client’s brand.

About you:

  • Must currently live in the U.S. or Canada
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be able to work during regular business hours (somewhere between 9am and 6pm on Monday-Friday)
  • Must be a fast learner and good researcher
  • Must have strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to write clearly and concisely with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Must have experience in creating social media content for various industries, ideally not just related to travel, food, and fashion – but also for nuts-and-bolts service brands like garage doors, roof repair, or air conditioning installation
  • Must have strong design skills using your creative weapon of choice (Illustrator, Photoshop or similar) for image manipulation, captioning, filters, and branding
  • Must have the ability to understand the tone of a client’s brand and exercise appropriate use of language in your posts (know when to be humorous, professional, helpful, fun, informative or formal)
  • Experience in a production environment is essential (creating content when you NEED to, not just when the inspiration strikes you!)
  • Must be motivated to work independently and effectively from your home office
  • Must have a positive attitude, enthusiasm for working with others, and ability to problem solve

The selection process will involve:

1. Selected candidates will be asked to take a social media content creation "test" that should take about 60-90 minutes. While examples of past work are great, we need you to prove you can do the specific type of work we require!

2. Final candidates will be asked to complete a short interview before we make our selection.
