Basic Function

Panel Shop Tech 1 is an Entry Level position responsible for learning how to build UL508A, UL698A, Hazloc Panels to customer and UL requirements on a daily basis while establishing a safe and efficient work environment. Develop technical skills & craftmanship of the trade.

Panel Shop Tech 1 position was established for the purpose(s) of providing an entry level technician a place to learn how to build VFD, PLC, & Control Panels per UL, NEC, and Company standards; installing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading VFD, PLC, & Control Panels and equipment; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that panels are completed within customer requested time frame.

Requirements

• Learn how to build and wire control panels according to CAD drawings and bill of materials.
• Learn how to read and interpret Electrical Drawings
• Maintain a clean and organized shop area.
• General duties will include assembly of control panels and enclosures, mounting components on panels, wire cutting, stripping, soldering, crimping, & terminating wires.
• Prepare finished control panels for shipment.
• Participate in Safety Culture including Stop It Drop It & Behavioral Based Safety

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or its equivalent
• Graduate of a technical school with emphasis in electrical work is a plus.
• Ability to work under direct supervision, within broad guidelines of procedures and goals.
• Basic knowledge of electrical theory and shop standards
• Be able to use tools such as pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers and other small tools.
• Solid work ethic
• Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
• Verbal and written communication skills with the ability to maintain professionalism among co-workers and customers.
• Must be dependable; trustworthy; and possess a positive and productive attitude.
• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule that includes extended hours.
