About the Role

In this position, as in all positions with Amcor Rigid Packaging, the co-worker is responsible for the safety of himself/herself, and fellow co-workers. The co-worker is also responsible for accurately and efficiently loading and unloading trucks and managing and maintaining paperwork. Some weekend and holiday overtime may be required.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to all shipping safety guidelines with regard to use of dock locks, jack stands, glad hand locks, dock plates, chocks, etc.
    • Ensure that truck drivers wear proper PPE if they enter the plant beyond the yellow bar.
    • Ability to maintain fork truck certification and follow safety guidelines regarding forklift/pedestrian zones, traffic patterns, and all other fork truck regulations including conducting and documenting fork truck safety checklist at the beginning of each shift.
    • Operate and verify function of dock locks and all safety equipment on the shipping docks daily.
    • Keep work area, outside dock area, and trash compactor area clean and housekeeping logs up to date. Perform safety audits and follow up on safety issues in shipping area.
    • Complete trailer inspection section of shipping manifest prior to loading.
    • Generate and fill out BOL, manifest, shipping inspection, and customs' paperwork as needed, and generate COC for shipment. Take corrective actions as needed should outbound shipments not meet shipping quality standards.
    • Request moves of in-park shipments through KALERIS portal.
    • Unload incoming trucks and inspect packaging for damage. Verify load to packing list. Sign and date receiving paperwork. Note any damaged or missing items and have the driver sign in acknowledgment. Ensure accuracy of all shipments and paperwork.
    • Enter raw material receipts into SAP. Send receiving files to the materials manager.
    • Verify COA/COC results for all incoming raw materials recieved are within spec. prior to storage. Store materials as required in cooperation with material handlers. Store materials as required in cooperation with material handlers.
    • Communicate receipt and condition of returned goods as well as maintain quality log for items rejected at the dock, including mixed and damaged product while maintaining FIFO principles of inventory management.
    • Maintain shipping and receiving logs and ensure truck drivers are signed in and out of FMS at appropriate times.
    • Be able to train coworkers on shipping and receiving SOPs.
    • Coordinate storage of both finished goods and raw materials with material handlers.
    • Assist cycle counter with inventory as needed and be able to break packers and/or material handlers as required.
    • Must be committed to providing our customers a product that is safe and meets specifications, regulations and statutory requirements.

About You

  • Good communications skills.
  • Must be skilled in performing tasks on MS Excel, Word, and email applications. Must be able to learn, retain, and use computer systems (e.g., SAP, MII, email, internet explorer, etc.) within 30 days, and follow set procedures for shipping and receiving tasks.
  • Must be motivated, possess a high attention to detail and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Correctly and legibly complete all paperwork necessary for shipping and receiving functions.
  • Must be able to multi-task multiple lines and effectively work with co-workers.
  • Job will require good physical strength and dexterity necessary to move around moving machinery, including lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, etc. There will be frequent exposure to the elements and the heat and humidity within the plant and in trailers.
