Job description

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk will be responsible for the orderly and efficient operation of the shipping function and will, while performing his or her duties, conduct him or herself in a mature, courteous and co-operative manner toward customers and commercial carriers. Completes receiving inspection, order entry and prepares Work Orders. Distributes Work Orders to product accepted for heat treating, collects and identifies customer paperwork / tags per procedure. Prepares all shipping documentation and / or certifications as applicable. Loads and unloads trucks in a safe and efficient manner.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience: Minimum one year computer experience and shipping /receiving experience.
• Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Physical Demands: Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods, bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Work Environment: May be exposed to heat, noise, humidity, fumes.
• Must have basic knowledge / experience utilizing math, ERP's, Microsoft Office software applications.
• Must have ability to determine shipping costs and proper packing procedures for all types of shipments.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
• Must be able to work overtime as needed and / or any shift as scheduled.
• Performs all other assigned duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gather completed Work Orders, review and print shipping documents / certifications as needed.
• Prepare shipping documents / call in pick-up for expidited orders to be shipped via UPS, Fed Ex and / or common carriers.
• Ensures products are secure for shipment by proper packaging, shrink wrapping and / or banding as required.
• Maintain and communicate daily customer pick-up list with Bluewater Thermal drivers.
• Practice safe and efficient use of fork lift trucks and hand cranes, reports any accident immediately.
• Interacts with customers, suppliers and drivers as needed to clarify or communicate discrepancies and schedules.
• Load or unload customer product and / or Bluewater Thermal purchased products by hand truck or fork lift truck.
• Must understand truck capacity (GVW) and how to load a balanced shipment, as well as a working knowledge of proper packing, crates, boxes, skids for all types of shipments.
• Inspects and records incoming and outgoing orders for count, damage, dates, etc.
• Brings any irregularities or other discrepancies / concerns to supervisor or management immediately.
• Must work in a manner consistent with the company QMS and EMS as applicable.
• Contract Review of incoming Purchase Orders, receiving inspection and subsequent order entry.
• Must have basic knowledge in blueprint / specification interpretation, use of micrometers, calipers and tape measure.
• Print, review and distribute all Work Orders approved for processing.
• Remove, identify and store all customer tags / paperwork per procedure.
• Move product to designated raw material staging area(s).
• Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping.
• Maintain and organize shipping / receiving docks and shipping office areas daily.
• Files all necessary documentation and records daily.

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent; Standing, bending, lifting, reaching, pulling and pushing.
• Occasional; Walking, sitting, talking, operation of small tools, hoist and material handling equipment.
• Environment; May be exposed to varying levels of heat, cold, noise, humidity, dust and various fumes.
• Required PPE; Steel toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protection required in all shop work areas.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $16.00 per hour
