Jerry Pittman is hiring 1st Class Shipfitters ONLY in Pascagoula, MS.

Rate for 1st Class Shipfitter ONLY: $38 (Per diem $17.19 per hour ($137.55 per day). Must work 2 hours a day to get PD and will only pay up to 8 hours of PD each day.)

1st Class Job Description: A First-Class Shipfitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Shipfitter or a Boilermaker, is responsible for various tools and equipment used in the fabrication, assembling, and erection of metal components at the various stages in constructing a marine vessel.

Shipfitters will be required to work either day or night (various shifts) dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Shipyard production areas involve working at different heights, in confined spaces, all weather conditions. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations.

Basic Qualifications

• Minimum 3 Yrs. trade experience
• Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
• Read and interpret blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
• Knowledge of the layout, fit-up and fabrication of steel plate and beam.
• Experience with various trade specific tools such as: hand torch, hydraulic and ratchet jacks, levels, grinders, squares, metric and standard tape measures and plumb equipment.
• Flux core and Stick tacking

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $38.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 10 hour shift
• 8 hour shift

• Pascagoula, MS 39567: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
