Founded in 1972 Children’s Services of Roxbury’s (CSR) mission is to provide high quality services to economically disadvantaged children, youth, families, and individuals thereby promoting and strengthening family life and individual growth. CSR serves approximately 6,000 families across Massachusetts, serving families through four key services areas: Early Education and Care, Behavioral Health Services, Youth and Family Services and Housing and Stabilization. There are 22 programs operating under those four services areas. CSR operates across in 4 cities, has a staff of 400 employees, and an operating budget of $28M.

The lack of adequate, affordable housing further destabilizes economically disadvantaged adults and families. CSR’s Housing and Stabilization Services staff is committed to addressing the needs of individuals and families struggling with homelessness, by providing permanent or temporary shelter along with food and clothing. Our safe, secure, and nurturing environments help families and individuals regain their self-esteem, develop life skills and financial independence, while remaining healthy and connected to their communities.

SUMMARY:

The staff of CSR’s Adult & Homeless Services division has developed superior expertise in addressing the needs of individuals and families who are homeless. Our safe, secure and nurturing environments enable them to regain their self-esteem, develop life skills and financial independence, while remaining healthy and connected to their communities. The Case Manger coordinates all family support services and monitors family's compliance to the individual's self-sufficiency plan. Assists Participants in identifying and reducing barriers to permanent housing. Be sensitive to the dignity and respect of program participants and staff


Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that all admissions and discharges meet both DHCD and CSR program guidelines in a timely manner; which includes intakes, self-sufficiency plans, re-housing plan, and exit paperwork.
  • Ensures residents adherence to DHCD's contractional requirements such as annual assessments, housing search, adherence to shelter policies and procedures
  • Meets with families to assess and monitor progress towards goals and compliance with program rules and regulations
  • Responsible for data entry and updates of participant’s intakes, exits, case notes and family progress in HMIS/ASIST/ETO in accordance with DHCD/ DTA and CSR requirements
  • Responsible to maintain case management records in accordance with DHCD/ DTA and CSR requirements
  • Oversees and participates in weekly family trainings and workshops for participants
  • Participate in case manager meetings, shelter staff meetings, staff training, and other meetings as required
  • Collaborate with Housing Specialist to support Participants goal in achieving permanent Housing
  • Meet regularly with Scattered Sites Program Director for supervision

Requirements:
  • BA in Human Services, Social Work or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of Case Management/ housing search experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of community resources and agencies that will assist families with long term goals and stability
  • Experience with Human Services systems such as substance abuse, domestic violence, and mental health issues
  • Strong communication skills, such as written, verbal, mediation, and negotiation
  • Ability to work effectively with families from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings and workshops
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Bilingual/ Bicultural, a plus
