The Service Management Office is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring processes that ensure stable and reliable IT Services. Day to Day:
  • You will collaborate with customers across campus and throughout the University of South Carolina system to provide service assessments, gap analyses, and innovative solution recommendations.
  • You will manage ITIL processes (IT best practice standards) that are designed to document, maintain, and monitor the health of various aspects of Information Technology.
  • You will design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive collection metrics for processes you manage and distribute this information to stakeholders.
  • You will provide support in multi-faceted, complex projects aligned with the University’s strategic missions from a change management perspective.
  • You will do research and document root causes of IT issues and their resulting impacts on the organization.
  • You will be in an environment that requires excellent teamwork and coordination skills.
  • You will consult with all teams within the division and provide processes and best practices.
  • You will maintain service agreements, service design packages, and other documentation about the services we offer and the customers that utilize them.
  • You will interact with leadership and be a voice of continual process and service improvement.
  • You will continue to develop your skills through real-world experience and professional development opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Systems, business administration or related field and 2 years experience in computer operations or a related field; or equivalency. Occasional work after hours is required.

Preferred Qualifications
ITIL Foundations certification is preferred. Exceptional facilitation skills.Understanding of IT operations and technology.Ability to act quickly, pragmatically and assertively under pressure to prioritize and resolve technical issues.Self-motivated to initiate, originate action and be responsible for consequent decisions.To effectively plan, prioritize and co-ordinate own and others’ activities.Persistence and thoroughness to drive solutions from cross functional teams.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Strong written and verbal skills to communicate courteously and effectively with the public and work as an effective team member. Ability to troubleshoot complex problems, be able to mitigate conflict, and work closely with others on intangible issues across organizational boundaries. Basic knowledge of project management, monitoring, and reporting techniques.
