Position Summary :
Sony Corporation of America (SCA), is seeking an Sr. Systems Engineer to join the Global Information Security Department organization. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Linux Systems Administration and will be a member of the team that provides designs, engineering support, implementations and 24x7 support of the technology infrastructure that supports a global incident response team. The Infrastructure Engineering Team is a pivotal part of Sony’s program to secure its information assets, services, and the products that depend on them, building trust with customers and stakeholders and protecting the privacy of Sony’s customers. This role will be based in Herndon, VA. However, remote candidates in certain locations may also be considered
Responsibilities:
- Research, design, architect and optimize a Hybrid infrastructure that uses traditional datacenter solutions and AWS
- Provide top tier support for operations and other engineering teams
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the administration of Linux systems and other operating systems
- Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis as needed
- Support administration of additional IT infrastructure consisting of the following:
- Common infrastructure management Applications (monitoring, patching, etc.)
- VMware
- Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Backup solutions
- Linux and Windows servers
- Dell Hardware (servers, workstations and storage appliances)
- Follow Security best practices for both traditional and cloud environments
- Produce, evaluate, and improve on operational processes, procedures, and documentation
- Provide timely support in the event of an outages or other unexpected operational issues
- Support other groups within the organization to maintain availability, reliability and proper operation of the infrastructure
Qualifications:
- A degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a relevant field
- Familiar with concepts of version control solutions like Git
- Extensive experience with Linux and other operating systems
- Experience with network and systems monitoring like Nagios
- Previous experience in as a system administrator, system engineering or architecture role
- Hands on experience with scripting languages (python or others)
- Experience with configuration automation solutions such as SaltStack, Ansible, Chef or Puppet
- Working knowledge of networking technologies and protocols; including TCP/IP and standard Internet related protocols
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) is preferred
- Experience with project management is preferred
- Experience with Directory services (Windows AD, LDAP) preferred
- Experience with name resolutions services (DNS) preferred
- Strong writing skills
