The Digital Innovation Group (DIG) at Providence is a small but mighty product development and incubation team. We build next-gen tools that give patients convenient and easy access to health care anywhere, anytime.

DIG is both a healthcare startup and a technology/product incubator. Our team gathers market data on effective solutions in the health care space and then builds out a product line with the latest and greatest technology. When market maturity hits, DIG enables the product to spin out as its own company. It is a unique mix of venture capitalists, digital strategists, marketing acumen, product development and engineering all in one group nestled inside one of the largest health systems. We set the pace for other health care organizations on how to conceive, engineer and launch effective health care solutions. Recently funded DIG startups included DexCare and Xealth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

In this position you:

• Write end to end software solutions using the latest native Mobile frameworks for iOS and Android. Produce bulletproof code that is robust, efficient, and maintainable.
• Work daily in an Agile environment with engineers from other teams, product managers, designers, and user research to recommend solutions, define timelines, and solve customer problems. You have a demonstrated track record of being a change agent, leaving every team and process better than you found it.
• Practice test-driven development, ensuring your code is covered by unit and integration tests, and continually improving the testability of our products.
• Configure CI/CD systems to automatically build and publish your solutions to Apple and Google app stores.
• Ramp up on new techniques and best practices for mobile development, and advocate improvements with the team.
• Mentor junior developers through code and design reviews.
• Build software with a proactive operations mindset to simplify alerting and debugging of customer issues with tools, using tools like Firebase for crash reporting and analytics, or Splunk for application logging and alerting. Participate in an on-call support rotation.

EDUCATION:

Required:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Information Science, Software Engineering, Software Development, or other related scientific or engineering fields, or equivalent educ/experience.

6 years developing software with mobile development languages such as Java, Kotlin, Swift, or Objective-C. 6 years working with mobile application frameworks such as the Android\iOS SDKs and related architecture components such as Activities and Fragments\View Controllers. 6 years working with mobile application state handling such as MVC, MVP, MVVM, and DI frameworks.

Preferred:

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Information Science, Software Engineering, Software Development, or other related scientific or engineering fields, or equivalent educ/experience

2 years setting up multi-configuration mobile build and publishing tools like Gradle\LLVM, high-level build automation like FastLane and cloud-based CI/CD like Bitrise.
