Senior Recreation Coordinator

Salary Range: $22.56 - $33.84/hour. Full Time, Benefits, Pension. First application review 3/10/2023, open until filled.

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to administer comprehensive recreation programs and events to meet the needs of the community and to attract tourism. The Senior Recreation Coordinator plans, develops, implements, and evaluates multiple recreation programs and events in, but not limited to, the assigned specialty area. Specialty areas may include: Adult & Youth Sports, Event Center, Special Events. Incumbents supervise part-time, seasonal/temporary recreation staff and volunteers and work with a variety of private, public, and governmental agencies and individuals. The Senior Recreation Coordinator works independently under the general direction of the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director. The focus of this position will be special events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plans, organizes and implements recreation programs and events.
• Oversees events and programs and evaluates to make plans for improvements;
• Performs miscellaneous duties to support the preparation and execution of programs and events, may include: running errands, picking up supplies, logistical planning, required setup and tear down;
• Conducts research and prepares written budgetary, expenditure justification, facility usage and activity reports;
• Responsible for the supervision, scheduling and payroll related reporting for part-time, seasonal/temporary staff and volunteers.
• Keeps accurate and concise records: financial, statistical and other;
• Recruits, hires part time/seasonal staff as needed.
• Coordinates staff and facility schedules and maintains related records and statistics for programs and personnel;
• Performs and maintains web-based registration procedures;
• Prepares information for communications regarding events and other recreation programs, including design and preparation of flyers;
• Promotes interest and provides information regarding recreation programs to community leaders, recreation officials, community service groups, other departments, and the general public.
• Responds to public inquiries about recreation programs made by telephone, other correspondence, or during public meetings;
• Works with a variety of related groups and entities to plan and implement programs and events.
• Assists with recreation programs and events outside of specialty area as required.
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
• Manages contracts and vendor responsibilities and deliverables.
• Evaluates event effectiveness.
• Builds partnerships and fosters/nurtures relationships.
• Identifies future partners and volunteer organizations.
• Produces financial and event reports.
• Provides staff assistance to current appointed commissions.
