The UMKC School of Nursing and Health Studies invites applications for a Senior Office Support Assistant to perform a varitety of clerical and student-focused duties to support the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program.


Job Description


The Senior Office Support Assistant will provide administrative support to the Bachelor of Health Sciences program faculty; coordinate and maintain service-learning and internship contracts; provide information on and refer students, faculty, and staff to University resources that can help resolve their questions.

Overall Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Perform a variety of complex administrative and office support activities to support the BHS program director, faculty, and administrators.
  • Manages phone line for BHS program and serves as a student resource for the BHS program.
  • Coordinate curriculum changes through the university’s courseleaf process.
  • Organizes and supports the service learning and internship process.
  • Manages syllabi collection each semester and review for completion.
  • Work closely with fiscal manager to provide administrative support to fiscal operations.
  • Conduct additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree OR an equivalent combination of education and experience, and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

Successful applicants will have a good eye for detail and will be vigilant in maintaining accurate records. Successful applicants will be problem solvers and comfortable working under deadlines. Use of technology is a large part of the job and applicants should have proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Outlook and Excel) and be comfortable learning new technologies. Familiarity with grants and experience providing administrative support in a higher education environment is a plus.

This position requires strong organizational and technical skills. For example:

  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Exhibits professional demeanor and attitude.
  • Demonstrates ability to work well with a variety of individuals throughout the unit and university.
  • Is detail-oriented, organized and able to keep orderly records.
  • Types proficiently and has strong experience in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Utilizes computer-based software and web-based applications with proficiency.

Full Time/Part Time


This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, hourly (non-exempt) position.

Salary


Up to $21.59 per hour commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
