We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Technology to join our team. This role will structure the various areas of technology and research into a sound roadmap for Nuvera progress and ensure strategic integration and leadership of core technologies to keep Nuvera at the forefront of the PEM fuel cell industry. The person in this role will be responsible to widen our base of technical knowledge and deepen the pool of talent: create and cultivate highly motivated teams within Centers of Excellence for core electrochemical materials, cells, stacks and operating processes. Drive Nuvera’s visibility as leader in the FC technical world, enable the participation in collaborations and funding opportunities.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • People: Build a world-class team and supervise staff in fuel cell and electrochemical compressor technology development. Ensure team is high-performing and delivers world class stacks to the business given an environment of constant adaptation and broadly defined objectives.
  • Technology Strategy: Develop core technology & intellectual property roadmaps to maintain Nuvera’s leading position in PEM fuel cells, engines and compressors (including patents & trade secrets). Required to establish novel plans for development of technology solutions with few or no precedents within broadly-defined policies and objectives.
  • Technology Readiness: Ensure new technology is fully developed and proven using Technology Readiness Assessments (TRA) to establish Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) as required for introduction into Nuvera’s products. By definition, new technologies are evaluated in
  • Stack Design: Specify, design, analyze, verify and validate electrochemical stack components (level-0). Lead the performance of scientific and engineering calculations to determine necessary materials, geometry, assembly, tolerances and operating conditions for stacks. Strategic business recommendations regarding supply chain strategy for core ECP materials and components.
  • Competitive/Industry Analysis: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, competitive technologies and advanced government and university research. Keep Nuvera “in the know” regarding the state-of-the art in PEM fuel cells and compressors.
  • Product Line Strategy Group (PLSG): Provide technological input, background, perspective, recommendations and readiness/risk data to the PLSG in setting the long-term product roadmap.

Educational Background
M.S. in salient engineering/technical field or MBA with technical background, PhD
Previous Work Experience
15+ years of industry-specific experience

Technical:
  • Solid grounding in scientific and engineering fundamentals and methods.
  • Solid understanding of materials, design, analysis, fabrication/ prototyping, manufacturing processes, simulation, experimentation and data analysis.
  • Deep understanding of electrochemical technology.
  • Keen problem-solving acumen.

Travel Required
Position requires up to 20% travel and the ability to work effectively in a variety of industries and environments.
