About the Department

The Cardiometabolic Marketing Team leads the US marketing efforts for Novo Nordisk’s robust cardiometabolic product portfolio, which includes world class therapies for the treatment of diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and other serious chronic diseases. As part of the team, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our portfolio vision, business strategies, and tactical plans that drive our business forward. You will help to drive the NNI portfolio and Brand strategies to ensure the products reach the people who need them most.


The Position

This position supports the development and implementation of product business plans, key strategic imperatives, positioning & messaging for pipeline assets across the entire diabetes and obesity portfolio solving for synergistic interdependencies between both therapy areas with an eye on Other Serious Chronic Disease (OSCD) therapy areas. Serves as a commercial point person for input on early commercial product teams and working groups. Responsible for supporting the development and coordination of the overall Therapy Area Strategy (TAS) for diabetes and obesity, ensuring in-line brand and cross functional stakeholders' alignment. Leveraged as needed to drive launch office engagements as part of the Launch Planning process for pipeline assets, in-line extensions, major clinical trials, devices and trade within the T-36 timeframe.


Relationships

Reports to the Senior Director of Portfolio Marketing. Expected to build strong relationships by working closely across the value chain with brand teams and cross functional teams such as clinical, medical, regulatory, future business, field sales, access and public affairs key stakeholders within the Diabetes and Obesity therapy areas. External relationships include relations with professional services vendors. May also interact with NN/AS. This role does not have any direct reports; however, the expectation is to frequently lead project teams and be responsible for driving accountability and follow-through for all of Novo Nordisk Inc., (NNI).


Essential Functions

  • Portfolio & Launch Planning:
    • Accountable for managing the therapy area strategy development focused on the next 5 years aligned to the NNI strategic aspirations
    • Develops commercial plans that strategically balances NNIs portfolio across diabetes, obesity, and in scope OSCD based on brand life-cycle planning, working with Medical, Market Access, Public Affairs and marketing functions among other cross functional areas to create and implement market shaping strategies in anticipation of product launches
    • Will be responsible for organizing, streamlining, and ensuring optimal pull through of relevant processes and projects by clearly defining goals, scope of work, key milestones, deadlines, assembly of project teams, manage relevant stakeholders, etc.
    • Understand business challenges and opportunities and apply knowledge to offer novel solutions to support the Diabetes and Obesity portfolio profitability and sustainability
    • Communicates directly with, prepare communications for, and/or consult on an as needed basis to a diverse internal audience, including Executive Team, Board of Directors, and other senior leaders throughout the organization
    • Pro-actively assess project opportunities and participate in project development tasks, e.g. strategies, pre-analysis, proposals, business cases
    • Monitor value metrics to inform decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs
    • Guide and coach others to ensure superior project management on all cross-functional and critical initiatives
    • Lead the planning process including the AB process to ensure AB anchoring of prioritized Diabetes and Obesity Marketing initiatives as well as complete overview of and central management of de-centrally anchored investments impacting the P&L


Physical Requirements

10-20% overnight travel required.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 7 years pharmaceutical or other relevant business experience required
  • Experience working with in a global enterprise managing global and local interests
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in designing and implementing project plans
  • Planning, Execution and Follow-Up - effectively prioritizes and spends time and the time of others on what is important
  • Develops accurate short- and long-term plans, and business analysis
  • Ensures timely execution and follow-up while meeting deadlines. Anticipates problems and roadblocks to avoid crisis management
  • The ability to work on cross functional teams and effectively represent patient marketing on these teams
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office 365, with a focus on PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Proficient with BI tools
