Position Purpose

The Senior Manager of Volunteer Programs will be a critical and public-facing part of the team responsible for the acquisition, retention, recognition, and deployment of volunteers in all capacities across the organization. This individual will develop key strategies and tactics to increase volunteer participation in all of the organizations volunteer-based programs. They will manage volunteers for their location and provide direction for the Manager of Volunteer Programs at Bideawees other locations. To be successful the Senior Manager must be able to develop plans for volunteers across the organization and ensure that it can be seamlessly integrated into the master plan for the organization.

The Senior Manager of Volunteer Programs will play a critical role in the organization achieving success through the activation and utilization of volunteer resources to manage and expand the reach of individual and corporate programs. In this role the Senior Manager will need to demonstrate organizational awareness and be comfortable communicating across Bideawee in order to solicit feedback on the effectiveness of programs or articulate the intent and anticipated benefit of volunteer initiatives. Comfort communicating with individuals verbally, through presentations and emails is necessary to be successful.


Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks
Job Functions and Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provides leadership and direct supervision to the Managers of Volunteer Programs at all locations, including hiring, performance, and review responsibility.
Provide sufficient flow of volunteers to meet the needs of all areas of the organization.
Understand and be able to perform and train volunteers in the several aspects of the volunteer roles needed.
Develops and executes strategy to recruit, orient, train, schedule, retain and recognize all volunteers and establishes performance standards.
Acts in the capacity of Manager of Volunteer Program for their location.
Directs Managers of Volunteer Programs to create plans, standards and best practices that result in greater organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Ensures that orientation, onboarding, and mentorship are conducted timely and follow established organizational policies and procedures in all office locations.
Assists with the development of the departments annual budget as needed.
Works with team members to administer a volunteer segmentation program that identifies volunteer skill set and matches them with the appropriate job in the appropriate business unit.
Understands departmental needs, allocates and track volunteer resources to ensure that resource allocation aligns with organizational and departmental needs.
Creates a volunteer career path that allows volunteers to progressively take on more responsibility in the organization.
Ensures that participants in the Corporate Volunteer Program perceive value from their experience such that long-term positive relationships are fostered.
Ensures the development of effective and timely communications with all volunteer groups.
Arranges and conducts tours for groups as required.
Ensures the timely production of accurate reports and benchmarks on volunteer allocation, hours and productivity.
Stay up to date on current trends in volunteer leadership.

Qualifications
Bachelors Degree
3 years of experience working with volunteers, with one year of supervisory or customer service experience
Customer care focused with an approachable demeanor
Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
Experience engaging individuals in various levels across multiple levels of an organization (Bideawee & Partners)
Demonstrated oral and verbal communication skills
Must have a comfort level working with and around cats and dogs.

Preferences
Certification of Volunteer Management (CCVA) preferred
Familiarity with Better Impact volunteer software preferred
The ability to research and analyze various types of data.
Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively solve problems or issues, by using judgment that is in consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law.
