Position Overview
The System Business Division in Hanwha Qcells has a System Development Center in South Korea and the Future Energy Technology Center (FETC) in Santa Clara, California. Future Energy Technology Center (FETC) will lead global home energy system technology by developing core technology through technology collaboration programs. FETC looking for a Team Leader of the Core Technology Development Team, who will lead the Core Technology Development team and foster advanced core technology. As Director of Core Tech Development, you will be responsible for managing the core technology development team, which will develop core home energy technology through technology collaboration programs. Through these technology collaboration programs with advanced research institutes, this role will foster advanced core technologies aligned with the technology development direction of the HQ System Development Center and explore advanced technologies through cross-collaboration with the FETC technology planning team. This position reports to the Head of Future Energy Technology Center (FETC) and will be physically located in Santa Clara, California.
Responsibilities
- Managing the Core Technology Development team through technology collaboration programs
- Propose future advanced core element technology aligned with Qcells’ system product roadmap
- Develop core element technology in power electronics such as residential inverters, ESS, Microinverters, Power optimizers, EV chargers, etc.
- Suggest and discuss future advanced core technology in power electronics with the internal FETC technology planning and evaluation teams
- Work as a hands-on contributor while leading the Core Technology Development team
Required Qualifications
- PhD or M.S. in science, engineering/equivalent combined education and work experience
- 13+ years technical experience in renewable energy sector, esp. ESS, PV inverter, MLPE.
- Strong technical & people leadership skills are a must
- A willingness to collaborate and communicate with the broader team to drive cross-team and cross-organization initiatives forward
- Strong technology networks in Silicon Valley area and successful collaboration history with outside research organizations
- Have a successful development history of contributing to commercialization efforts
- Demonstrated successful leadership of teams greater than 10 engineers
- Experience in power devices such as GaN, SiC or ASIC design
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with peers, business partners, technical staff and leadership via appropriate mediums: verbal/written/presentation
- Hands-on R&D experience in the power electronics
- Perform reviews and analysis of both firmware and hardware systems within power electronics
- Must be authorized to work in the US
