The E-Commerce Team is seeking a tech-savvy Senior Commerce Editor to oversee commerce coverage of consumer technology products for Ars Technica. On top of leading commerce editorial efforts at Ars, an editor in this role will test, review, and write about consumer technology products across a range of categories that will be determined based on the candidate’s experience. Possible categories include computing/mobile devices, audio/video hardware, virtual reality gear, smart home devices, and desktop and mobile software. The ideal candidate will be a platform-agnostic writer who is comfortable discussing their choices with an involved and sophisticated audience.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage long-term commerce content calendars for sales and editorial reviews coverage, and be responsible for tracking the performance over time.
  • Help manage the staff commerce writer and act as a liaison between the commerce team and the Ars reviews team.
  • Pitch ideas for upcoming product reviews in coordination with the Ars Senior Reviews Editor. Content should resonate with the Ars authoritative voice.
  • Write, edit, and/or refresh approximately 5 pieces of content per week. This will be a mix of full-length reviews, buying guides, gift guides, deals coverage, and roundups.
  • Research to ensure that product choices are on-trend and on-brand and make useful buying recommendations along logical and defensible criteria.
  • Work closely with the SEO team to apply best practices to stories.
  • Serve as an affiliate expert for the Ars editorial team, supporting in research and optimization of all commerce content.
  • Organize and manage time efficiently, take initiative, and communicate effectively.
This is a full-time remote (telework) position. Experience writing and/or editing consumer-focused product reviews and guides is required, as is a love for technology and a desire to help readers find the best products (and make the most of them).

Base Salary Range: $65,000 - $103,000
