    ?GRADE 10 260 DAY NON-EXEMPT POSITION . MINIMUM SALARY $18.28.

    GENERAL
    Performs a variety of responsible, diverse and complex administrative and secretarial duties and services in support of the building principal.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    Types and reproduces memoranda, correspondence, special projects, reports, forms, purchase orders, tabulations and statistical data, handbooks, and agreements. Composes routine correspondence.

    Receives telephone calls and visitors to the office, such as School Board members, school division personnel, parents, students, staff members, the general public, salesmen, etc. Ascertains the purpose of the call or visit and either directs them to the proper authority or personally assists them. Answers questions regarding school policies.

    Receives funds from various sponsors of school clubs, organizations, and other activities. Prepares and deposits all monies with the depository. Performs all related bookkeeping duties and keeps fund chairperson aware of balances. Prepares and writes checks for all school expenditures dealing with club purchases. Prepares for annual audit of accounts.

    Performs all duties related to the registering and withdrawal of students. Maintains accurate rosters, verifies birthdates, and immunizations, and assures that other medical confidential and instructional documents are current. Requests transfer of records from former school; forwards records to new school for withdrawing students.

    Coordinates the activities of assigned office clerical staff. Organizes and delegates office operations such as typing, bookkeeping, flow of correspondence, filing, requisitioning of supplies, etc. Provides training to office staff in the use of proper procedures.

    Maintains a variety of filing systems such as correspondence, reports, records, etc. in alphabetical or numerical order, or according to subject matter, or other system.

    Schedules and coordinates appointments and meetings for administrative personnel. Conveys messages to administrative personnel in emergency and routine circumstances.

    Operates a variety of office machines and equipment such as word processors, typewriters, calculators, duplicating machines, micro-computers, telephones, etc.

    Performs related duties as required.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED
    Performs duties under the general supervision of assigned administrative personnel who provide specific instructions in relation to new work; otherwise requires ability to work independently. Consults policies and regulations manual, federal and state guidelines, interoffice memoranda, previous records; secretarial and bookkeeping references.

    CONDITIONS OF WORK
    Heavy workload with frequent deadlines and interruptions. Environment is often times stressful requiring occasional interaction and communication with concerned and irate parents.

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
    Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate, preferably supplemented by two years of post-secondary training or college-level courses in the secretarial sciences to include English courses, computer courses, and Business courses.

    Successful completion of a typing test at the rate of 60 words per minute and successful completion of a shorthand test at the rate of 100 words per minute preferred.

    Considerable secretarial experience, preferably in a school office environment.

    Ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as calculators, typewriters, micro-computers, etc.

    Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

    Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions and directions.

    Ability to work independently.

    Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with co-workers, parents, and the general public.
