We are seeking a Senior Accountant professional to join our team based at Weiss’s corporate headquarters in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Job Description

The Senior Accountant will support the Regional Controller and Accounting Manager in overseeing Weiss Bros Accounting operations and the execution of accurate and timely reporting to the parent company, Envoy Solutions, LLC. This role is involved with almost all the activities pertaining to the maintenance of the general ledger and the timely completion of monthly financial statements. The Senior Accountant will serve in the following areas: General Ledger; month-end close; posting and reconciliation of journal entries; financial statement preparation and analysis; budget preparation; bank and account reconciliations; bulk business analysis.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Responsible for accounting transactions record keeping.

· Analyze complex accounting reports and records.

· Review daily the bank reconciliations of each account, store close-outs, and cash reports.

· Assist in managing the month-end close process, Prepare and record journal entries for month-end-close

· Manage and prepare monthly AP accruals to capture all incurred monthly expenses and amortize prepaid expenses.

· Prepare monthly financial statements and conduct monthly financial statement analysis to identify anomalies and report on variances.

· Reconcile I/C transactions for balance sheet and income statement accounts with related companies.

· Review sales tax reports and file returns once approved.

· Vendor deviation cost management – enter contracts, submit claims, follow up on uncollectible balance

· In coordination with the central Rebates team, review the local vendor rebate schedules to check for accuracy, and reasonableness and investigate any anomalies.

· Perform banking activities such as positive pay / ACH submission, and reconcile credit card transactions.

· Process payroll on a semimonthly basis and reconcile payroll reports to check registers, reconcile reports to vendor-prepared payroll tax and information returns to ensure accuracy.

· Maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.

· Provide all requested documentation to the tax preparer and ensure timely payment of all estimated taxes.

· Prepare property tax returns, annual reports, and business license applications.

· Prepare monthly accounting workpapers and schedules in compliance with corporate accounting policies and GAAP

· Maintain PBCs and work with internal and external auditors.

· Assist with answering questions from the A/P and A/R departments.

· Resolve accounting discrepancies.

· Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.

· Compile and analyze financial information.

· Ensure, in accordance with company accounting policies and U.S. GAAP on a periodic, monthly, quarterly, annual, ad hoc, and multi-year basis, the proper accounting and financial reporting of financial transactions.

· Ensure coordination and consistent treatment of financial information that affects the financial statements.

· Support special projects, ad hoc requests, and perform other duties as assigned.

· Adhere to company's values and code of conduct.

Requirements:

· Must have authorization to work in the United States.

· Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college/university strongly preferred.

· A minimum of 5 years relevant general accounting or audit experience required.

· Expert Microsoft Excel proficiency.

· Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

· Ability to prioritize multiple work assignments, projects, and able to meet objectives and deadlines in a changing environment.

· Experience processing multi-state payroll, sales tax returns, and property returns preferred.

· AS400 and Sage Pro ERP experience is a plus, but not required.

· Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)' U.S. and / or IFRS.

· Experience in a SOX or distribution, or in a accounting practice servicing the same is a plus.

· Strong organizational and communication skills.

· CPA is a plus but not required.

· Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Must work well in a collaborative team environment.

· Must be able to pass Pre-Employment Background/Credit Check & Drug Test
