Goodwill Southern California seeks an experienced Accountant to support the cash management areas. The Senior Accountant- Cash Management oversees all receivables, retail sales reporting, bank reconciliation, cash flow, investment reporting, and other general ledger, budgeting and financial statement preparation. This critical role also serves as the back-up to the Cash Management Manager. This is a hybrid position based out of Goodwill's Los Angeles Campus.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Assists the Manager in overseeing the sales control desk and Retail Store areas. Communicates and trains staff and other departments on cash management process.
2. Assists in preparing all journal entries that pertain to cash management area and updates for the month-end closing.
3. Processes invoices and cash receipts for all areas. Checks, updates, and generates invoice registers. Maintains backup copies in monthly folders for future reference and annual audit purposes.
4. Records sales from all areas including: Contract Services, Salvages, Post Retail Sales, and records WCD billings to various government agencies. Prepares and records all necessary debit memos and credit memos into Accounts Receivable upon Manager’s approval.
5. Follows up on collections for all outstanding and past-due accounts to maintain Accounts Receivable aging current including the weekly distribution of Accounts Receivable aging reports to appropriate departments.
6. Performs reconciliations of billing from all departments. And reconciles Daily Cash Report, Accounts Receivable Aging Report, and Open Items Report with General Ledger.
7. Assists bank reconciliations include General Account, Payroll, Workers Compensation, Non-Restricted Development and Restricted Development, and Capital Campaign. Resolves all outstanding checks over 90 days.
8. Assists in month end closing and responsible for all journal entries that pertain to the Cash Management area for accuracy and timeliness.
9. Performs unclaimed property for A/P & Payroll accounts and submit the prelim files to State of California before 11/01 and finalized the files on 06/01 every year
10. Posts all payments related to accounts receivable billings into Financial Edge Accounts Receivable system with accuracy and in timely manner. Records all non A/R related payment activities into General Ledger based on copies of deposit slips, ACH debits and credits.
11. Records NISH fee accruals monthly basis and submits any payment request related to customer refunds and NISH fees to Accounts Payable.
12. Generates Daily Cash Report with available cash projection and forwards to an immediate Manager for review, and distributes it weekly to VP of Finance and Controller.
13. Performs back up assistance to Retail Sales reporting and Bank Reconciliation activities as needed

Education & Experience

  • Min. 5 years of accounting and business administration experience. Non-profit experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
  • Good written and oral skills with attention to details.
  • Self-starter, must able to meet deadlines.
  • Computer Skills: Accounting and spreadsheet software, POS software, intermediate knowledge of computer programs in a Windows environment, including Word, Excel and E-mail.
  • Background and Drug Screen required.
  • Covid Vaccination Verification.
