SCIENTIST
GAITHERSBURG, MD

Duration: 11+ months

Required Skills:

• A minimum of a Bachelors or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biochemical or Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• BS/MS and 0+ years of experience. 2+ years in purification process development or related purification-based work with biological products strongly preferred.
• AKTA chromatography system
• HPLC
• Protein purification

Project Description:

• The downstream purification scientist will be responsible for development and optimization of mAbs and other novel molecule processes that include separation techniques such as column chromatography, filtration, and TFF.
• The scientist will solve challenging downstream processing problems such as removal of process and product impurities taking in consideration virus clearance expectations.
• Analyzes results to perform process risk analysis such as fit-to-plant assessments, and generates tech transfer documentation such as process descriptions, batch record review/approval, managing technical relationship between sending and receiving organizations, campaign monitor and run investigations.
• Perform lab-scale experiments to support process changes and generate robustness data.
• Exercise application of principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to design, execute, and interpret new experiments as a result of other experimental outcomes.
• Write technical reports and deliver presentations on experimental results.
• Participation in projects under general supervision to meet project goals.
• Work (independently or in collaboration with others) to advance, research, development, or support programs.
• Development of new methods, technologies, and processes when necessary for project advancement.
• Analysis and interpretation of results.
• Preparation of technical reports summaries, protocols.
• Presentation of findings at internal meetings.
• Position is a hands-on, laboratory-based role.

This 11+ month position starts ASAP.
