About the Role
CROP seeks Safety Team Associates for our Oakland career development residential campus. This role will be responsible for ensuring the security and safety of our campus, participants and visitors, carrying out campus guidelines and schedules, responding to crisis situations, and executing operational tasks while on site. Safety Team Associates will use problem-solving, empathy, and verbal de-escalation skills to maintain a safe, clean, and secure campus environment. This position reports directly to the Residence Manager, and is based in Oakland, CA.
Overnight Shift: 12:30am to 9:00am Saturday-Sunday (16 hours/week)
Responsibilities and Duties
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
I. Maintain the safety, security, and confidentiality of residential property, residents, and visitors:
Monitor external visitors, including enforcing access controls to campus buildings, administering proper entry and exit protocols, ensuring visitors get to their destination, and enforcing residential rules
Oversee program participant activities to ensure residential rules are followed and participants are in appropriate locations
Conduct site safety checks and respond to emergency situations while adhering to organizational policy
Receive and log incoming and outgoing deliveries of packages
Maintain vendor log(s) to accurately sign in/out vendors while on-site as appropriate
Screen incoming calls, takes messages, and/or forwards calls as appropriate
II. Perform work necessary to maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and orderliness of the campus buildings:
Conduct basic property maintenance as needed (ex. changing light bulbs, plunging toilets) and report any major maintenance issues to Residence Manager
Perform basic cleaning as needed including but not limited to vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning bathroom facilities, and maintaining outdoor courtyard and curbside cleanliness
Restock bathroom and cleaning supplies while monitoring inventory as needed
Assist in maintaining proper structure and/or exterior of the campus buildings
Receive and enter maintenance service requests or work order requests promptly
Complete overnight checklist to ensure facility is prepared for next day/shift
III. Complete necessary documentation, reporting, and data entry:
Complete and maintain proper documentation in a timely manner including but not limited to wellness check documentation, inspection reports, critical incident reports, shift notes/logs, and data entry as needed
Engage in consistent communication with additional team members by communicating security concerns (e.g., violence, attempts to leave the site) in a timely manner
Maintain up-to date log of room occupancy, maintenance, and housekeeping statuses, and report to proper staff as needed
IV. Support with additional organizational duties:
Uphold and promote the organizational mission, vision, culture, and goals
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and gatherings as required
Other duties as needed or assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 1 year of experience working with justice-involved individuals
Experience working in an overnight residential setting providing support services is preferred
Maintain flexible schedule, and be available to work shifts on short notice and to work overtime when required
Ability to work with diverse populations, maintain an empathetic stance, and maintain appropriate boundaries with participants
Ability to de-escalate situations and/or respond appropriately to emergencies including contacting appropriate staff and/or contacting and interacting with police, fire, and medical personnel as needed
Ability to perform extensive reporting, data entry, and documentation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Special Requirements
Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification
Must not be on active parole/probation supervision
While performing the duties of this job, the following may be necessary:
Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs
May be frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see clearly
May be occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
Compensation
This is a part-time, non-exempt position. The hourly wage range for this position is $25.00 to $30.00. Regular part-time employees may be eligible for specific benefits based upon hours worked per year. Not all employees will be eligible for the benefits.
