You will report to Team Leader of Safety.

Responsibilities/You Will

This is a mid-level safety position. You will need some guidance from Safety Leadership. We may ask you for assistance with large projects.

  • Provide safety and health leadership to an assigned area(s) and Line(s) of Business.

  • Administer and apply the safety and health programs, rules and policies.

  • Assist Leaders to prevent injury, reduce risk and assure compliance by integrating actionable, sustainable and efficient safety processes into their business.

  • Assess safety and health performance through data review, incident history, and audits. Guide the necessary behavioral or environmental changes, creatively, and cost-effectively.

  • Help with Guest-related issues.

  • Partner with multiple departments to help target improvements and reduce risks.

  • Participate in the project review process to guide safety and health improvements in the design phase.

  • Know the importance of and engage appropriate partners (i.e., Food Safety and Public Health, domestic Safety and Health operations/programs/auditing, Worldwide Safety Facilities/Accessibility/Communications/Documentation/Design Assurance, Operations) on troubleshooting, projects, plans, and goal-setting.

  • Inform Operations Leaders and Safety Leadership of safety and health local, global and industry issues and safety best practices that impact performance.

  • Understand the business, its culture and its challenges.

  • Look for opportunities to attend meetings, shadow leaders, and experience the work.

  • Understand the daily challenges in producing "safe outcomes" for the Cast.

  • Understand the internal processes that can be used to incorporate safety & health initiatives.

  • Integrate appropriate safety and health messages into the existing communication vehicles.

  • Conduct necessary technical assessments and analyses to support daily operations.

  • Provide daily Safety Management System (incident investigation) review/feedback.

  • Provide "Daily Incident Log" review/feedback• Attend area Leadership Staff Meetings

  • Attend/co-chair safety and wellness committee meetings; ensure minutes are documented and follow up occurs

  • Conduct site walks with Area Leaders

  • Conduct incident investigations

  • Conduct Cast Member caring conversations

  • Conduct job safety analyses

  • Conduct slip tests, light tests, noise surveys, IAQ investigations as-needed

  • Partner with the Safety and Health Programs Team to conduct indoor air quality investigations

  • Review safety scorecard and author trend analysis

  • Help with OSHA complaints and inspections

  • Attend project review meetings and walks

  • Be the Safety & Health Duty Manager on a rotational basis.

Basic Qualifications/You Will Have

  • 3+ years of industrial safety experience in a related industry such as petrochemical, construction, maintenance, manufacturing, hospitality, entertainment/theatrical, transportation, distribution/warehouse

  • Knowledge and hands-on application of regulatory standards, best practices and guidelines, such as confined space, incident investigation and root-cause analysis

  • Expert in recognizing hazards and proposing mitigations

  • Proficient in each of WDP&R's leadership competencies (Leadership, Management, Technical, and Relationships)Creatively resolve problems – sometimes in areas outside your realm of expertise – and work within a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous atmosphere

  • Deploy analytics and trends to improve safety

  • Project management experience

  • You will provide direction and complete projects by being consultative, and by resolving conflicts

  • Basic ergonomic, industrial hygiene or food safety experience

  • Stand for 8 hours or more

  • Walk several miles in a day

  • Work in inclement weather

  • Wear personal protective equipment

  • Lift/carry equipment

  • Climb steps, ladders and scaffolds

  • You will work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated safety management experience

  • Experience implementing Total Worker Health programs

  • Passion for mentoring others through training and feedback

  • Proficiency in a second language (Spanish/Haitian Creole)

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree (eligible for Certified Safety Professional)

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in the safety and health field

  • CIH, CSP, or CPE certification
