Position: Safety Manager

Hours: Monday- Friday 8am-4:30pm

Pay: $85,000 - $100,000 / yr.

Location Position rotates between all Herb Pharm Facilities: Pacific Botanicals in Grants Pass, Herb Pharm Main Site in Williams & Herb Pharm Operations in Central Point


Summary: The Safety Manager will develop and implement policies to ensure a safe and healthy working environment. Will be responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. Looking for a self-starter and with experience leading safety function or department

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:

  • Work with senior management to ensure organization’s OSH compliance and participate in tactical planning and support of corporate OSH initiatives.
  • Manage site inspections and audits by developing and implementing inspection policies and procedures, schedules of routine inspections and facilitate regulatory visits.
  • Manage emergency response incidents.
  • Create and manage budgets for OSH activities and conduct training in applicable OSH areas.
  • Evaluate programs, issue recommendations and implement changes.
  • Liaise with all other functional first line management and supervision.
  • Work with HR Department to manage workers’ compensation claims and return to work programs.
  • Ensure the implementation of short and long-term group strategic plans to raise the standards of environmental, health, and safety at each site.
  • Ensure that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible.
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain all required OSHA written management processes to include recordkeeping requirements per state and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement safety and environmental awareness training material and programs with an emphasis on behavior-based safety, increasing hazard awareness, and supporting regulatory compliance and internal environmental management programs.
  • Develop and conduct new leadership orientation programs on Accident Reporting, Accident Investigation, policies on safety records/documentation, and monthly safety inspections.
  • Schedule and coordinate monthly safety committee meetings and provide guidance on any safety issues raised by the committee.
  • Recommend and monitors the purchase of all safety equipment.
  • Develop and monitor EH&S driver measures and critical performance indicators with focus on leading indicators.
  • Manage chemical and hazardous materials management programs (i.e., Process Safety Management, etc.)

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Managed OSH programs at a facility or multiple facilities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of PMS preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in EH&S management and inspections.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Work, Power Point)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Safety professional certification preferred (ASP, CSP, SMS, STS, LSP, etc.)

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as business and industry journals, company procedures manuals, safety rules and computer operating manuals. Ability to compile, analyze and write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before small groups and employees of an organization.


Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Interpersonal Skills
: Ability to quickly organize and communicate thoughts, and to understand communications from others. Ability to maintain composure, professionalism, listen and respond appropriately.


Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, bending, reaching, standing while performing tasks. Ability to carry equipment used for inspections with ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
