Job Overview:

The Linde Gases US (LGUS) division of Linde plc is currently seeking a ROC (Remote Operations Center) Technician for the ROC (Remote Operations Center) located in Tonawanda, NY. The ROC remotely monitors and operates multiple facilities located throughout the United States and Canada.

The ROC1 Technician responds to alarms from the 425 + Semi-attended production facilities that report in to the ROC. The ROC2 Technician is focused on driving optimal production, efficiency, and reliability for bulk plant facilities.

Scope:

Under minimal supervision, the ROC1 Technician is responsible for the remote operation of production facilities and various customer supply equipment in a control room setting. Plants are monitored and controlled remotely using advanced control systems. In addition to plant operations, excellent communication skills are required to manage a variety of internal and external phone calls.

The ROC2 Technician will be responsible for remotely operating 6 to 8 Air Separation Facilities. Duties are complex in nature and require extensive knowledge of the air separation process.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Remotely monitor, operate, start, and shutdown Air Separation equipment in compliance with procedures and safety policies.
  • Start, stop and adjust equipment to meet product demand and maintain peak efficiency as power rates change.
  • Process information from plant control systems and rely on training and experience to make decisions on appropriate courses of action to maintain proper plant operation.
  • Work with local plant and central engineering staff to trouble shoot plant issues.
  • Interpret data from control systems and communicate effectively.
  • Follow safety policies and operating procedures at all times.

Qualifications - External

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work a 12-hour rotating shift with occasional shift changes.
  • Must be able to support up to 10% travel for on-site support of facilities.
  • Technical training and Operations experience desirable.
  • Work experience in chemical process or power generation operations.

  • Recent college graduate with Degree in an Engineering related field.
