Vero Health & Rehab of Amesbury seeks an experienced nurse unit manager to join our great nursing management team. We are looking for a hands on nurse with outstanding clinical assessment and documentation skills to oversee our short-term sub acute unit. The right candidate will be a Massachusetts licensed nurse. A registered nurse is strongly preferred.

The unit manager duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Plans, organizes, directs, supervises and evaluates nursing care on the unit to achieve good clinical outcomes.
• Provides professional guidance and supervision to non- professional unit staff
• Ensures patient care assignments are consistent with the needs of the patients
• Ensures timely and accurate compliance of the MDS process including assessments and care plans.
• Contacts the physician to obtain orders as indicated (admission, change of condition)
• Ensures that physician orders are followed as prescribed
• Oversees medication management to ensure adequate supplies are on hand and administered per policy
• Participates in shift to shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff
• Ensures discharge planning process is in place
• Ensures complete and prompt reporting of accidents, incidents and adverse events to the Executive Director and Director of Nursing
• Investigates patient/family complaints and takes appropriate action to bring to resolution
• Participates in the evaluation of staff competency
• Is an active participant in the staff education and Performance Improvement process
