Nursing Shift Supervisor Position Summary:

This position maintains responsibility and accountability for the quality of patient care rendered and is the administrative representative for both internal and external contacts during the designated shift. Remains available for all departments as a resource person, to aid in problem solving, to evaluate and decide on course of action for any crisis that may arise, to prioritize and coordinate activity and actively participate in staff development.

A Day in the Life of a Nursing Shift Supervisor at MyMichigan Health:

• (20%)* Assesses intra-interdepartmental efforts in the delivery of health care to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient.
• (20%)* Evaluates services provided by the Department of Nursing. Evaluates and provides feedback to other departments as necessary.
• (20%)* Implements nursing actions in accordance with established standards of nursing practice and established policy.
• (20%)* Implements activities to accomplish objectives for individual patients, nursing personnel, and other departments.
• (20%)* Self-Management and accountability for delivery of responsible patient care, demonstrates effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Assumes responsibility for own continued development and assists with the development of other staff members.

Requirements We Are Looking For:

• Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or higher required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing recommended.
• Registered nurse license in the state of Michigan required.
• Two years of supervisory experience in at least a charge nurse capacity.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

• Operate equipment as outlined on orientation checklists, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in equipment in-services and competencies as they relate to role expectations.
• Perform job skills outlined on orientation checklist as they relate to role expectations.
