Job Description
Talen Energy is seeking an entry level professional to join our risk team. The incumbent will assist with the accuracy and efficiency of data retrieval, analysis and reporting of portfolio value across generation assets and trading. We are interested in adding professionals who are eager to learn and grow.
Responsibilities
• Learn and develop deep understanding of power generation and trading in all markets (ERCOT, NE, PJM) • Gain deep understanding of risk reports and requirements including but not limited to P&L, Position, Cash, Pricing, Lost Opportunity Cost, and Shadow Reports • Understand the importance of risk controls for commercial trading and assist trade control team as needed • Cross- train to quickly cover key risk reporting requirements for all regions • Assist the team to enhance reporting efficiencies and work with all stakeholders to ensure alignment and impacts are analyzed and reviewed prior to implementation; assist in building visual tools so the team can quickly analyze results • Develop tools to support analytical processes around the portfolio • Actively engage in the implementation, configuration and testing of core business processes and related systems • Perform related job duties as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline is required with at least 1 year of working experience in professional environment • Solid analytical skills • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills • Self-starter with ability to contribute both individually and on project teams • Willingness to learn new systems or advance skills (SQL, Excel, Python, MicroStrategy, etc.) to support the needs of the risk team
