Purpose:

As our writing resource you will be responsible for creating a wide variety of content for our brands, including website copy, ad copy, social media content, Search Engine Optimization content, print/direct mail content and more. We are looking for a writer who understands retail – you’ll need the ability to create excitement while maintaining brand standards when writing for a variety of platforms.

Website Copy:

• Organize assets from our vendors and merchandising team to create web product listings that are consistent, differentiate products, and help consumers imagine living in a more stylish and comfortable home.
• We regularly add dozens of items, so you will have the opportunity to work across our full catalog of products.
• You will also be tasked with continually reviewing existing product copy to find areas of improvement.
• Work with internal resources and external agencies to improve search engine optimization – you will be a hands-on resource for optimizing product copy, headlines, introductory paragraphs, and more.
• Continually review competitor, peer and aspirational sites for content strategies that can be adopted or altered to create a compelling online experience for our customers.

Digital Marketing Copy:

• Provide copy for paid search programs, digital ad units and social media copy as needed.

Email Copy:

• Provide positioning statements, headlines, subheads and calls-to-action for our promotional emails.
• Create copy for emails that are part of our customer journey and automated email flows. (Welcome emails, abandoned cart emails, etc)

Print and Direct Mail:

• Create copy elements for our ongoing print and direct mail programs: catalogs, newspaper inserts, direct mail postcards, and more.

• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Responsive to feedback

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit and reach at shoulder height regularly.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers using telephone.
• Ability to use vision to read documents and computer screen.
• Ability to use hands to type information into computer.

Education and Experience:

• Experience writing for both digital and traditional formats.
• 3-5 years’ experience on the agency or client side as a copywriter (portfolio or samples required)
• Experience working in/for the retail industry a definite plus.
• An interest in interior design/home décor a plus.
• Experience with content management systems a plus
• Experience with Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing a plus
