POSITION: Residential Living Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Residential

REPORTS TO: Center Life Director

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

Job Summary: Plan, supervise, and coordinate residential living operations during assigned shift.

Duties:

  • Create and maintain an environment that allows students to team and practice independent and community living skills.
  • Model and reinforce social and employability skills, such as positive attitude, dependability, and teamwork.
  • Provide a safe, secure, clean, and attractive physical and social living environment for students that is appropriate to their varied needs and levels of maturity.
  • Provide staff supervision of all student living areas at levels that assure the safety, security, and accountability of all students at all times.
  • Implement a structured process for sharing information that ensures effective student accountability.
  • Safeguard to assure that personal information about individual students, subject to the Privacy Act, is shared among staff only to the extent necessary to ensure the safety and effective provision of services to students.
  • Implement procedures to record important information about student-related events as the events occur and to transmit the information from each shift to the next.
  • Maintain individual records for each student that contain, at a minimum, basic identifying information, including emergency contacts, and written parental consent (minors) for weekend passes to approved destinations. Such records shall be readily accessible to dormitory staff.
  • Control the movement of students between dormitories.
  • Distribute dormitory supplies and materials.
  • Track dormitory performance as it relates to dormitory incentives, including student retention.
  • Screen, interview, and recommend the hiring of all Residential Advisors (RAs).
  • Provide orientation and other job-related training to RAs.
  • Schedule work assignments, supervises, and evaluates RA performance.
  • Ensure that dormitory activity logs are accurately and completely maintained.
  • Maintain and follow all non-health standing orders.
  • Brief the oncoming shift supervisor(s) before departure. This includes medical condition of students injured or sick, incidents, safety and security.
  • Ensure that residential staff assist students in development long- and short-term personal and independent living goals and documents same on the students' PCDP. Monitors progress through effective and timely ESPs.
  • Ensure residential advisors check dormitories, snack bars, and canteens and documents their findings in a log book.
  • Act as center liaison to the Center Director after normal business hours.
  • Submit time sheets within time frame per center policy.
  • Assist with the student leadership program.
  • Conduct and document quality assurance audits and self-evaluations to ensure program quality and integrity.
  • Ensure the safety, health, and security of students, staff, and property.
  • Ensure evacuation route maps indicating emergency exits, primary and secondary evacuation routes, location of fire extinguishers and fire alarm pull stations, and assembly points must be posted in all residential facilities.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices.
  • Conduct and document regular staff meetings with assigned staff.
  • Model, mentor, and monitor appropriate career success skills.
  • Help student become more employable through continuous reinforcement of independent living skills.
  • Participate in PRH mandated staff training. Failure to participate may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the individual's scope and capabilities.

Qualifications and Experience: Minimum of two years related experience as Residential Advisor or related supervisory experience in a similar environment is preferred. Associate's Degree from a College or University and/or equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered subject to DOL approval of a waiver. Valid state driver license required.

Specific vision capabilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
