Job Description:
40% -Basic research and development on two- and three-dimensional computational models of hydrodynamic flow, waves, and hydrodynamic processes, specifically the authorship of peer-reviewed journal articles and supporting research software.

20% - Lead and support field observational studies including, but not limited to: site visits, hydrographic surveys (e.g., water velocity and discharge), hydrodynamic/oceanographic measurements (e.g., waves, water level, salinity), and meteorological measurements (e.g., wind speed and direction). This responsibility will include data processing and analysis.

20% - Working with graduate and undergraduate students, specifically, supporting research group meetings, contributing to student projects, participating in workshops, and presenting occasional seminars and classroom presentations

15% - Strategic planning for the next generation of coastal modeling software for the accurate and efficient representation of sediment morphodynamics, vegetation, nonlinear waves, and infrastructure across a range of scales, specifically authorship of whitepapers, project proposals, etc.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, Computational Science and Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience and strong motivation to continue work in several of the following areas is highly desirable: numerical modeling of coastal and estuarine hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and geomorphology, flood risk mitigation and analysis, field instrumentation and observation of coastal processes, evaluation and qualification of ecosystem services, and coastal ecosystem design.

The appointee will be a member of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Department of Oceanography & Coastal Sciences, and the interdisciplinary Coastal Ecosystem Design Studio.
