Join AIR as a Research Assistant with AIR's Educators and Instruction (E&I) team of researchers and practitioners as we work to achieve solutions to complex policy and practice problems. Our E&I team identifies and supports effective approaches to help teachers thrive. Our work primarily focuses on:

The research position will support a variety of projects focused on using evidence-based practices for teaching and learning. Specific responsibilities could include supporting research studies, tracking project activities, communicating with study participants and school personnel, managing payments for research participants, and other research related tasks.

Candidates hired for the position may work remotely within the United States (U.S.) or from one of our U.S. office locations.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for the position include:
  • Conduct literature reviews to support projects and proposals
  • Assist staff in the review, identification and development of scholarly information describing research findings
  • Participate in the collection, analysis, and review of research and evaluation data
  • Develop spreadsheets and data bases to support project activities
  • Support analysis of quantitative and/or qualitative research data and contribute to the reporting and interpretation of findings
  • Participate in the development of proposals for federal, state, foundation, and other clients and funders
  • Clearly communicate with clients, colleagues, and other internal and external audiences and represent AIR in a professional manner
  • Recruit and manage relationships with research participants and sites
  • Support the development of research products and present findings to clients, funders, education organizations, and the public
  • Support technical assistance activities, like coaching, training, and tool development
  • Support and promote cultural competencies and equitable approaches in research
  • Contribute to the implementation and integration of AIR’s diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in all business activities
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in such fields as economics, psychology, sociology, statistics, computer science, public policy, public health or other social science related fields
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of data collection and analysis methodologies and techniques, such as survey design, analysis of program administrative data, and conduct of structured interviews, observations, and focus groups
  • Experience working with or supporting underserved schools or communities
  • Experience with or inclination to learn and use statistical software programs such as R, SPSS, or Stata to analyze data – a plus but not required

  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
  • Efficient writing skills
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or the equivalent (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software)

Disclosures:


Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program, is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $50,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
