SUMMARY

Souder, Miller & Associates is recruiting for Renewable Energy Project Coordinator position in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The position will support completion of the company’s renewable energy project backlog and assist with developing more projects in the growing renewable energy field. The company’s Renewable Energy Client Community is currently working on multiple solar and wind energy projects that range in size from commercial scale (10-100kW) to utility scale (500 kW to 1,000 MW). SMA’s professional services for these renewable energy projects includes feasibility analysis, due diligence assessment, funding research and development, permitting & regulatory compliance, public outreach, electric utility coordination, GIS and survey, civil engineering, geotechnical analysis, construction observation, and commissioning. The Renewable Energy Client Community works across company business lines and with several subcontractors to provide other professional services that support development of these projects.

The position will work under the supervision of the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager to complete all phases of project development on behalf of public, Native American, and private clients. The position will assist with identifying renewable energy project opportunities, project scoping, developing budgets and project timelines, preparing cost proposals and contracts, processing invoices and tracking project financial performance, responding to formal procurement opportunities, managing subcontractors, conducting technical analyses and drafting technical reports, conducting quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews of technical work products, researching project development funding opportunities and completing funding applications on behalf of clients, researching regulatory requirements and coordination with multiple agencies and stakeholders to facilitate approval of various authorizations and permits, managing procurement of contractors on behalf of clients and observing project construction, and facilitating project commissioning, testing, and acceptance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with identifying renewable energy project opportunities by researching and reviewing grant opportunities, and outreach to existing and prospective clients.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with preparing proposals in response to formal and informal solicitations: developing project scope of work statements, budgets, & timelines, coordinating with company marketing staff and drafting technical proposals, QA/QC, and participating in formal procurement interviews & presenting proposals in public settings.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with soliciting and obtaining quotations from subconsultants.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with drafting professional service contracts, master service agreements, and task orders for review by company legal staff.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with project finance management, including coordination with company financial staff, process invoices, and track project financial performance.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with conducting renewable energy project feasibility analyses. This work can involve collection of electric usage data, data entry and processing, developing case scenarios and generating financial projections using modeling programs such as NREL System Advisor Model, researching system components, developing recommendations for project development and project finance, drafting project deliverables such as technical reports, conducting quality assurance/quality control reviews.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with researching funding programs available to clients and completing funding applications on behalf of clients.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with researching regulatory requirements, coordination with multiple agencies and stakeholders, and preparation of application documents to facilitate approval of authorizations and permits, including but not limited to county land use permits, NMDOT right-of-way, NMPRC location approval and right-of-way width determination, NEPA, NPDES, and other project funding specific requirements.
  • Assist the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager with managing procurement of contractors on behalf of clients and observing project construction, and facilitating project commissioning, testing, and acceptance.
  • Perform other tasks supporting the company’s and the Planning Group’s projects, as assigned by the Renewable Energy Client Community Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate Engineering, Earth Science, Environmental, or Planning discipline.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience post-graduation preferred in relevant field.
  • Technical writing experience required.
  • Specific experience in the renewable energy field is not required but preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
