Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) of Fairbanks, AK is looking to hire a full-time Regulatory Specialist as part of the Member Services Division located in Fairbanks, AK. This position earns a competitive starting wage of $6,163.33 monthly. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Our Regulatory Specialist assist the Regulatory Manager with the administration of regulatory duties to ensure that the organization's business processes are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations of the Regulatory Commission of Alaska (RCA) and other various regulatory bodies and that recovery of costs through tariffed rates are based on sound ratemaking principles and regulatory policy.

The Regulatory Specialist plays an integral role in GVEA's ability to serve the Interior of Alaska in providing reliable electric service at fair and reasonable prices!

QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN REGULATORY SPECIALIST

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Law, or a related discipline required.
  • Five years' work experience in a similar position (accounting, economics, legal, or business).
  • Experience in the utility industry preferred.
  • An understanding of cost-of-service and utility ratemaking concepts preferred.
  • An understanding of utility regulation preferred.

Previous work experience in a Cooperative or Electric Utility would be preferred but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.

Do you have the working knowledge of rules, regulations, and procedures as it relates to the RCA, and other applicable state and federal regulatory bodies? Do you have strong oral and written communication skills, including an ability to write clear and concise communications and communicate to various audiences? Can you effectively prioritize multiple tasks? Can you maintain a confident and professional demeanor under stressful conditions? Are you dependable and trustworthy? WORK SCHEDULE

This position typically works 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Additional hours as required.
