Children's Dental Surgery has an immediate, full-time opportunity available for a talented Registered Nurse (RN) at our Allegheny Avenue location in Philadelphia!

Children’s Dental Surgery consists of five AAAHC-accredited ambulatory surgery centers, each offering a hospital-like setting for safely and effectively treating children in need of restorative dental work. Our centers are currently located in Philadelphia, Lancaster, Malvern, and Bethlehem, PA, as well as Jackson, NJ, and treat thousands of children each year. Our team of skilled providers includes board-certified pediatric dentists, board-certified anesthesiologists, and registered nurses to ensure every detail of our young patients’ treatment plan is handled with care. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides both Pre-Op and PACU nursing care to patients in our pediatric ambulatory surgical center. RN is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to our young patients utilizing the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the surgery center.

Pre-OP / PACU Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and accurately document nursing care for the pre-operative
• Coordinate all aspects of nursing care with pre-operative team to achieve defined patient outcomes
• Provide a safe environment for patient and family
• Works closely with the surgeons and the anesthesia care providers to guide the child safely through the postoperative period
• Provide nursing care patients in post op, continuously monitoring and assessing patients during their stay
• Assisting patients recovering from anesthesia
• Assessing the patient's health status and previous medical history
• Assess the learning needs of the parent/caregiver
• Provide appropriate education to the patient’s family regarding their individualized plan of care for at home recovery
• Other duties and tasks associated with optimizing the operational efficiency of the surgery center

Requirements:

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing
• At least one year of experience as an RN
• Previous experience working in a pediatric or ambulatory surgery setting a plus
• Ability to obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of start date
• Current Pennsylvania State License
