Registered Nurse - Medical / Surgical
Job description
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, to assigned patients who are hospitalized because of medical conditions or are undergoing surgery. Nursing care includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care within the scope of practice of the Licensed Practical Nurse. The LPN must recognize, report, and document findings and changes in health status.
The LPN:
- Assists with medication administration, treatments, procedures, assessments, and plan of care.
- Performs delegated nursing measures within the framework of the hospital’s policies and procedures and professional standards.
- Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team.
- Prioritizes and organizes the delivery of nursing care to use time and resources effectively and efficiently.
The LPN may need to perform nursing unit administrative duties such as transcription of orders, entry of orders into computer or onto requisitions and other duties associated with the Ward Clerk position and help ensure an adequate stock of supplies on the nursing unit.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned. May be expected to work varying hours, holidays, and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSE / CERTIFICATION / REGISTRATION:
- Current Kansas LPN License or ability to obtain license after graduation according to Kansas State Board of Nursing guidelines.
- BLS - Obtains RQI BLS certification within appropriate quarter (approximately within 3 months of hire), maintains quarterly RQI requirements.
- IV Certification from the Kansas State Board of Nursing
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience as an LPN preferred, but not required.
- Computer experience preferred, but not required.
