Summary

The Recreation Services Assistant (RSA) is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to GVRs membership. The RSA will perform on-site facility checks to ensure a safe and friendly environment for all GVR members and their guests, as well as supporting employees and members in day-to-day recreational activities and functions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Interact with members in a friendly and upbeat manner while listening to and acting upon any questions or concerns.
  • Understand, abide by, and promote GVR policies and procedures.
  • Verify membership status of facility users by checking membership, guest and tenant cards.
  • Maintain a visible presence around the assigned center(s), remaining available for questions and assistance.
  • Become familiar with current GVR classes, events, and activities, encouraging and recommending suitable offerings to members and guests.
  • Conduct walk-throughs of each room/amenity at the facility to identify and correct any safety concerns or policy violations.
  • Regularly check the fitness room to assist members with questions, ensure proper and safe use of the equipment, provide brief instruction on how to use equipment; inspect equipment and submit work orders for any broken equipment, sanitize equipment as needed.
  • Assist CSRs with registrations, assist Recreation Services Lead(s) with managing pool closures and re-openings during inclement weather, rearrange pool deck furniture at end of each shift.
  • Where static set-ups are not used, set up, tear down, and/or relocate materials and equipment, such as tables and chairs, for member games and activities.
  • Inspect/ ensure that static set-ups are returned to original diagram set-up by membership.
  • Communicate, as directed, with members and staff regarding set-ups and maintain room set-up binders.
  • Set up sound and visuals as needed for special events or meetings.
  • Assist members with self-service options on the Kiosks.
  • Complete incident reports both for all member accident-illnesses and behavioral issues and submit to Supervisor.
  • Monitor center cleanliness, clean up spills or empty trash as needed, fingerprints on glass, etc.

Qualifications Qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.


  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Must obtain and maintain current CPR AED certification within 30 days of employment.

  • Must be able to read, write, and be fluent in the English language.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, in person and via telephone.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles, cell phones and/or radio equipment, telephones, computers, copiers, etc.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, communicate proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of GVR operations, services, policies and procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of fitness equipment a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and apply decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, email, and internet.
