Position: Recreation Program Leader

Department: Parks, Recreation & Arts

Classification: Part-Time/Temporary

Hourly Rate: $17.60 - $20.37

Non - Exempt – Overtime Eligible

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, plans, organizes, and conducts a program of recreational activities at a park, or community center, large facility, or specialized program.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None


Example of Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
    Assist in conducting activities in community or other voluntary recreation facility
  • Staff and set up for athletic games
  • Assist students at community rec center with homework, games, activities, and snack times
  • Responsible for games and excursions during day camp months
  • Plan recreational activities
  • Plan and direct leagues and tournaments
  • Arrange chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for group activities, such as banquets, wedding receptions, group meetings, or sport events
  • Welcomes visitors and answers incoming phone calls
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance.
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Recreation or a related field is desirable.
