We are, a freestanding, physician-owned, comprehensive cancer center based in Albuquerque, NM with a satellite clinic in Gallup, New Mexico. We are an Oncology Medical Home, with a focus on early intervention for patient symptoms, resulting in low hospitalization rates. Our Physicians have won Top 10 Docs in the city of Albuquerque multiple times.

As a successful Medical oncology and Radiation oncology practice, we have expanded our medical practice to include Survivorship, palliative care, Primary Care, Rheumatology, Pulmonary, Urology and Sleep Center.

POSITION SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for facilitating patient services within Radiology to ensure patients are seen in as timely a manner as possible by maintaining awareness of total patient load, departmental issues, and priorities. This includes setting up the room, patient screening, cleaning/turnover of the room after the procedure, assisting with patient charting, and assisting with disc/film requests.

Essential Functions Statement(s):

  • Answers and places calls; takes and relays messages; handles requests/problems and refers to appropriate staff; demonstrates proper telephone etiquette.
  • Relates to all patients in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Assesses / Screens patients for potential risk factors.
  • Prepares patient for procedures providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Removes patient from the exam room and prepares for next procedure.
  • Follows appropriate departmental protocol for procedures unless specified otherwise by the Radiologist.
  • Obtains and documents the patient history and pertinent information.
  • Ensures proper identification of patients and provides for patient privacy.
  • Assists with radiology disc requests
  • Review radiology orders for completeness/errors/discrepancies and reconcile discrepancies with the physician’s office prior to completion.
  • Is knowledgeable of what to do to assist in the treatment of contrast reactions and other emergencies.
  • Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care.
  • Plans delivery of care according to patient activity and staff competencies.
  • Assist with Nuclear Medicine Research documentation
  • Verifies exams in the PACS system.
  • Prints and copies studies from the PACS system.
  • Calls other facilities to request for prior studies.
  • Reports any unusual circumstances or problems to Radiology Manager for proper action.
  • Exercises proper precautions to ensure the safety of patients, the general public, staff, and self.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Education and Experience:

  • Experience: At least 1 year of customer service in a hospital or service environment is required.
  • High School diploma or GED is required.

Computer Skills:

  • Basic computer skills, EMR, PACS, and related systems

Certificates & Licenses:

  • BBP and Biohazard annual safety training
  • Current CPR certificate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $1.00 per hour
