Responsibilities:
The Radiology Scheduler I will work Full Time, Evenings (12:00pm-8:30pm) and will provide high quality administrative support to modalities.
  • The Radiology Scheduler will answer, screen and triage phone calls in a positive, professional and helpful manner, always utilizing the Bassett three-part greeting.
  • The Radiology Scheduler will take detailed and accurate messages consistently in the established format and assuring that any required follow-through happens within an acceptable timeframe as observed by managers.
  • Actively promotes the delivery of quality healthcare through continual learning, proactive communication and encouraging teamwork.
  • Proactively resolves problems and makes decisions within the scope of authority as observed by manager and modality feedback.
  • Raises emergent situations or expressed patient problems directly with Supervisor or Manager for assistance.
  • The Radiology Scheduler assumes responsibility for continuing education by maintaining competency in programs required for daily responsibility, including information systems, insurance requirements, and office procedures and protocols.
  • Attends all required in-services as requested by supervisor.
  • Identifies need for computer training or refresher courses and attends as necessary.
  • Maintains competency in all computer programs required to perform job.
  • Maintain departmental scheduling protocol knowledge.
  • The Radiology Scheduler schedules at the Bassett affiliate locations to the advantage of the patient and ordering provider.
  • Covers affiliate scheduling lines when requested by management from those locations.
  • The Radiology Scheduler obtains all information necessary to complete the outpatient registration process assuring demographics and insurance information is correct and entered into the system accurately and in an efficient manner as monitored by system audit.
  • The Radiology Scheduler assures correct data capture and data entry (such as MPSQ) necessary for regulatory agencies and compliance requirements is accurate and complete as monitored by system audits.
Qualifications:
Bassett Healthcare Network follows the New York State and New York State Department of Health COVID-19 vaccine mandates for healthcare workers. This mandate requires COVID-19 vaccinations for personnel working for or on behalf of our hospitals and nursing homes. The New York State mandate allows for medical exemptions and religious accommodations, when appropriate. All candidates who accept an offer from Bassett Healthcare Network will be required to show proof of vaccination as required by New York State.

Education/Qualifications:
  • High school or equivalent required.
  • Associates degree preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 2 year of experience in a busy office environment, dealing with public and inbound phone calls required.
  • Associate's degree will waive 1 year experience requirement.
Licensure/Certificates:
  • None.
Skills:
  • Strong computer, customer service and communication skills required.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills to work with a diverse group of people within and outside of the organization.
  • Well developed organizational skills, ability to prioritize work.
  • Must have the ability to handle confidential information and sensitive situations.
  • Skills in medical terminology preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Extended periods of sitting at a computer and on the phone.
  • Walking between clinics and hospital work areas.
  • Minor lifting associated with filing and stocking of supplies; stooping, bending, reaching.
Work Environment:
  • A busy office setting with majority of time spent at a computer, on the phone and dealing with patients and staff, face-to-face.
  • Work schedule is defined as weekdays during normal business hours with occasional weekends, but flexibility is necessary based on the needs of the department.
