ABOUT YOU

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Minimum of 2 years of successful related work experience and good work attendance record.

· Must possess skills in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) and Google Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, etc.).

· Must possess a minimum sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL within six (6) months of employment. SURVIVAL PLUS must be obtained within the first twelve (12) months of employment. INTERMEDIATE must be obtained within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment

· Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with deaf and/or hard-of-hearing individuals and possessing the ability to communicate through sign language.
  • A sign language proficiency evaluation of INTERMEDIATE upon the first day of employment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Obtain a sign language proficiency evaluation of SURVIVAL PLUS within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
  • Obtain a sign language proficiency evaluation of INTERMEDIATE within the first thirty-six (36) months of employment.
  • Able to deal positively with frequent interruptions.
  • Exhibit tact and friendliness in dealing with students, parents, staff members, and visitors.
  • Perform administrative support for director and staff.
  • Maintain appointment calendar for director.
  • Create and update ASD event calendar for student handbook and Institute distribution.
  • Perform administrative support for department teachers and staff.
  • Receive, sort and stamp received incoming departmental mail.
  • Maintain payroll records and forms on all departmental personnel and submit to Principal’s office as scheduled.
  • Maintain database and hard copies of behavioral incident reports.
  • Maintain student/staff information in Student Information as needed.
  • Maintain student and staff files (hard copies) as required (Permanent Files, IEP Files, Professional Development, etc.)
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and materials and monitor equipment inventory.
  • Complete and monitor purchase requests, check requests, petty cash reimbursements, etc. as per accounting regulations.
  • Complete and monitor food requests, travel requests, and assist in making arrangements for athletic, recreation, PE and other trips (including Charter Busses for Athletic Trips).
  • Complete and monitor department event food requests as needed (Athletic Banquet, Hospitality Rooms, Pre and Post Game Meals, etc.).
  • Complete and monitor travel request and travel reimbursement forms for staff, coaches and director.
  • Respond to requests and forward information regarding the department.
  • Research, maintain, and order supplies and materials for the department and athletic teams.
  • Maintain ongoing total of expenditures for the department per cost center.
  • Maintain updated copies of student/team rosters, teacher schedules, lunch duty, trip schedules, etc.
  • Act as liaison representing athletic director, principal and ASD with the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) regarding eligibility, athlete documentation, team rosters, athletic team schedules, cheerleader information, reports, etc.
  • Assist director with scheduling, organizing, preparing for, and hosting athletic contests including state tournaments, invitational tournaments, homecoming, etc.
  • Assist director with beginning of school information for department staff.
  • Assist with the ordering and distribution of student awards and other honors (Athletic Teams, PE, etc.).
  • Assist with the distribution and maintenance of academic probation and study hall lists.
  • Assist with listing of current tutors, assigning of tutors and payroll for tutors.
  • Copy and file staff and student information appropriately.
  • Assist in supervision of students as needed.
  • Assist director to insure teachers post grades and other information with appropriate department including in the student information database.
  • Assist Director in obtaining substitute teachers.
  • Dispense first aid and medication to students as needed.
  • Make contact with nursing staff regarding health issues, injuries, etc. of student/athletes.
  • Assist in conducting reporting and monitoring fire, tornado, inclement weather, intruder alert, shelter in place, and other drills.
  • Enter work orders on the Maintenance/IT Work Order Systems as necessary.
  • Assist with securing buildings as needed.
  • Adheres to the AIDB/ASD Communication Policy in communicating with parents, staff members, visitors, students, etc.
  • Participates in training sessions and workshops provided
  • Works cooperatively as a team member with other school personnel to best serve the students.
  • Deal with emergency situations in a calm and logical manner.
  • Conduct self and dresses in such a manner that sets a good example for the students.
  • Follow all policies, rules and regulations of AIDB and ASD.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule as needed based on athletic events and after school programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SALARY: $16.58 - $19.33 Scale S4 Rank 31 (230 Days)

Direct deposit is required.

Salary is based on 230 days according to the AIDB calendar.

This is a non-exempt position, and is subject to overtime and/or compensatory time provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Upon agreement in advance, hours worked over 40 in the work week will be taken as time off at 1 ½ times the hours worked.
