Quality Team Manager

Your Tasks

  • Responsible for all acceptance, sampling and estimation of raw materials and pre-processing activities of Aurubis Richmond (in Augusta, GA). (Strategic and hands-on management.)
  • Responsible for a professionally correct assessment, estimation, and sampling of incoming goods, including operating sampling equipment.
  • Process owner of all raw material acceptance and raw material pre-processing activities including estimation and sampling.
  • Responsible for correct performance and coordination of stock taking activities in respective areas of responsibility.
  • Key-User and second level support for Quality Team Software which will include software implementations.
  • Must successfully communicate, interact, and interface with international and domestic employees of all levels regarding operational and non-operational topics. Examples of roles include (but not limited to): management, leads, Quality Team staff, engineers, production, maintenance, safety/environmental, procurement, human resources, stakeholders, etc.
  • Ensures professional claim management.
  • Acts in an industrial environment with high level of compliancy rules (safety, environment, quality).
  • Extensive contact with internal/external suppliers/customers and/or purchasing and customer service department, to identify, research, analyze and resolve issues.
  • Provide support in several areas, including issue resolution, financial performance, adherence to contract terms and solution design and pricing, as needed.
  • Understand, comply, and supports implementation of all federal, state, and company health, safety, and environmental requirements, inspections and procurement of equipment and parts.
  • Establish and maintain communications between all levels of supervision and management – including being responsible for all reporting needs for the SCM department. (May include being part of specialty projects.)
  • Supports Logistics in warehouse optimization, packaging, etc.
  • Supports Local Production Planning in having up-to-date transparency in material flows and inventories.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Sample Preparation to optimize sample preparation.
  • Implements performance measurement & KPI tracking for operative responsible area. Establish corrective actions for underperforming metrics to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Is taking care of the management and availability of main Quality Team equipment such as but not limited to shredders and forklifts.

Your Profile

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years practical experience in related sampling/ planning/ process engineering professions.
  • Proven work experience as a sampling manager, ideally in an international environment.
  • Minimum of three (3) years strong leadership skills which have been successful in motivating staff to ensure operative targets are met while maintaining the quality standards. (Result oriented leadership approach).
  • Possess a deep understanding of chemical or metallurgical (production) processes and requirements.
  • Proficiency in conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Solid knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices in the workplace.
  • Must be conversant in current DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong computer skills (business system, email, Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and product flows.
  • Knowledge of lean/process improvement methodologies

Preffered:

  • APICS certification(s), a plus.
  • Experience with a start-up of a plant is beneficial.
  • Ability to read and interpret prints, drawings, and layouts.
  • Speaking and listening language skills in a 2nd language is preferred, ideally German.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Metallurgy, Material Science, Industrial Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemistry) or 5 (five) years equivalent advanced work as proven manager and/or related military experience.
  • Master’s Degree preferred
